MASS INTENTIONS An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for

several reasons: in thanksgiving, for the inten ons of another person or as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died for the souls in purgatory. One must never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s

soul. We find not only the origins of this prac ce da ng to the early Church but we also clearly recognize its importance. Offering Mass for a special Inten on is a long standing tradi on in the Catholic Church. It is usually considered that special graces are obtained for whom the Mass is said. If you would like to have a Mass said for someone, please contact the Parish Office at 773-622-5900 ex. 225.

SANCTUARY LAMP INTENTIONS You may light one of the sanctuary lamps, in memory of a loved one, in thanksgiving, or for a special inten on. A sanctuary lamp may be lit for a week. Please stop by he sacristy or by the parish office if you wish to have one requested. Thank you.

Remember in Prayer As members of the parish faith community, it is our responsibility to remember both in concrete and spiritual ways those who cannot celebrate with us each week because they are ill. Those who are sick in turn,

remember all of us daily in their prayers and in their sufferings.

„Your Province, o God, guides us”

(Wis 14,3)

Dear Father Jason,

Prayerful congratulations on the 25th Anniversary of your Ordination!

It takes a village to make a priest, and it takes a priest to hold the village together! If our lives have been able to touch and influence one

another it is because of you, so let give thanks to God for sharing your journey with us. Thank you for all that you do for our parish, the Archdiocese and for the entire Church.

We pray that God may continue to bless you with wisdom, guide and protect you and bring peace and joy to your heart.

Happy Anniversary! Pax et bonum!

ST. FERDINAND CHURCH ARCHDIOCESAN DESIGNATED PILGRIMAGE SITE FOR THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY A major aspect of the Holy Year has been that of pilgrimage to Rome to make repara on for sin and to renew the conversion of one’s life. A very important symbolic act performed by each pilgrim has been to pass through the Holy Door. Christ iden fied Himself as “the door.” In his bull Incarna onis Mysterium proclaiming this Holy Year, Pope John Paul II stated that the Holy Door “ evokes the passage from sin to grace which every Chris an is called to accomplish. Jesus said, ‘I am the door’ (John 10:7) in order to make it clear that no one can come to the Father except through Him In opening the door. The Holy Father has tradi onally struck the door three mes with a silver hammer . The striking of the door also has symbolic meaning: Moses struck the rock so that water would pour out miraculously to quench the thirst of the people (; the Holy Year is a me when God pours forth abundant graces to quench the thirst of our souls. God struck the earth to free St. Paul and Silas from prison, which resulted in the jailer and his family asking for bap sm ; God has struck our hearts opening them to His graces, beginning with the saving grace of Bap sm. As our Lord hung upon the cross, the soldier struck His most Sacred Heart, and out flowed blood and water, symbols of the Holy Eucharist and Bap sm which nourish each of our souls. In all, the striking of the door symbolizes the release of graces, flowing abundantly to the faithful.

I KOMUNIA ŚWIĘTA DZIECI Z POLSKIEJ SZKOŁY IM.

Father: Jesus, you look even happier than usual today. What’s

up? Did the Angels win?

Son: Unlikely. They’re near the bo om of their division.

Spirit: Don’t count them out, though, either of you.

Father: Do you know something we don’t know?

Spirit: Do I know something you don’t know? Is that even

possible? We’re the same person!

Son: Quiet down, you two…

Spirit: Says the Great Smiling One. But the Big Guy’s right, Jesus.

What’s with the 24/7 grins?

Son: It’s Party-Party-Party me!

Father: Can you elaborate?

Son: Of course! Even though I shouldn’t have to…

Spirit: Humor us.

Son: OK. Look at the calendar. Two Sundays ago the Church

celebrated my Ascension.

Spirit: Technically, your Ascension was on Thursday…

Father: Details… Go on, Son.

Son: Thanks, Abba. Two Sundays ago the Church celebrated my

Ascension. Last Sunday, we celebrated Pentecost…

Spirit: Hey! That’s my day!

Father: So noted.

Son: And today, we’re celebra ng the Solemnity of the Most

Holy Trinity.

Father and Spirit: Hey! That’s all of us!

Son: Don’t push it.

Father and Spirit: Sorry…

Son: Right. So where was I?

Spirit: Trinity Sunday.

Son: Oh, yeah! We celebrate Trinity Sunday today, and next

week, we celebrate The Solemnity of my Most Holy Body and

Blood.

Father: Impressive.

Spirit: So really, it’s Party-Party-Party-Party!

Son: Brilliant.

Spirit: That’s me all over.

Father: Actually, that’s all of us all over, for “Thus says the

wisdom of God…

‘from of old I was poured forth, at the first, before the earth…’”

Spirit: Proverbs. I wrote that.

Father and Son: In a sense…
