"FOOTBALL FIGHTUM"
Football is a game which has a fundamental appeal to Americans of all classes. Through properly organized football comes a challenge to exercise the best of one's physical and mental powers at all times. The game involves discipline in moral restraint on and off the field. To "bleacher football players" the game should be an opportunity for the exercise of real broad-minded sportsmanship in approval of the hard, clean football of both sides.
The ideal attitude of Ohio State rooters to their team is involved in the Ohio State Rooters' Creed, which is an adaptation of the Amherst College football song: "You do your best boys, we' ll do the rest boys, Fight for the Victory."
We all work for and want legitimate victory. The exhibition of the best possible faithfulness in clean fighting effort, win or lose, in football or in life, should bring as much or more enduring value to player and spectator.
T he following selection is apropos:-
THE OTHER MAN
"He fights with set teeth under the writhing mass of men, and is pushed back. And pushed back and back fighting harder as the enemy batter over line after line. Every muscle pains, he must drive his body to stop the rush that comes again and again, inexorable. Then, the last stand-they hurl their helmeted heads at his line, he smashes into the melee-goes downfeels the heat of sweaty bodies-is crushed hard against the ground-but always fighting, always trying to hold off defeat. And when he risesTouchdown.
When the game is over, and the goal posts cast· long shadows over the grass, and the crowds are leaving, some roaring, some disconsolategive one yell for him-the man who is staggering with bent head, bruised, battered, defeated, but every inch a man."

SONGS RAH, RAH, RAH, FOR OLD OHIO
(Tune: "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp, the Boys are Marching.")
1
Raise a shout of hearty cheer For the Scarlet and the Grey And the boys that go to battle in
the game. They are out to do their best And whoever wins the day They'll be loval to our Alma Ma
ter's name.
CHORUS
Rah, rah, rah for Old Ohio, For Ohio hip hurrah, hip hurrah. Oh, the team is filled with pep And they're out to make a rep And they'll die before Ohio'll lose
the day.
2
Oh, the backs are fast and strong, They will take the ball along Till they've traveled forty times
across the field, And the line is like a rock, I t will stand the hardest shock, For Ohio's men were never known
to yield.
3
So we')) pledge our heart and hand By the team to always stand. We will cheer them every moment
of the game. For Ohio's sons are true In whate'er they try to do And they'll bring Ohio victory and
fame. C. T. CONKLIN, '16

Oh I come, let's sing Ohio's p~aise And songs to Alma Mater. ralse; . While our hearts reboundmg, thnll With joy which death alone can still. Summer's heat or Winter's cold, The seasons pass, the years will roll; Time and change will surely show How finn thy friendshi~hio.
These jolly days of priceless worth, By far the gladdest dayS of earth, Soon will pass and we not know How dearly we love Ohio. We should strive to keep thy name Of fair repute and spotless fame; So in college halls we'U grow To love thee better-Ohio.
Though age may dim our memory's store We'll think of happy days of yore, We'll be frank to friend and foe, As sturdy sons of Oh io. If on seas of care we roll, 'Neath blackened sky, o'er barren shoal, Thoughts of thee bid darkness go, Dear Alma Mater-Ohio.
