Wings come in many shapes and sizes.
Birds have feathers.
Feathers help birds fly. They also keep birds warm and dry.

Not all animals that fly have feathers. Bats and dragonflies do not have feathers.
Bats have hair on their wings.
Dragonfly wings are smooth.
Some animals move through the air without wings. They have extra skin. It helps them float on air. They can not fly very far.

Animals with wings can fly very far away.
This bird can fly across an ocean.
This butterfly can fly from Canada to Mexico!
Some animals fly to find food.
Butterflies fly from flower to flower to get food. Bees do, too. They look for flowers with bright colors.

Some birds can see far away.
They fly high to get a good look at the ground.
If they see food, they fly down to get it.
After reading the book, write or draw your answers to these questions on separate paper.
