Take some time to look at these charts, analyze yourself and circle the ones you excel at; underline the ones that still need work and growth, and bring them to God in prayer. This weekend we bless marriages for strong, vibrant, faithful couples who strive to live holy lives. Pope Francis canonized Louis & Zélie Martin, the parents of St. Thérèse on Oct. 18, 2015. They are the first husband and wife to be canonized together. As a couple, they reached the ultimate goal of matrimony which is sanctity of their spouse & holiness for their children to become saints through the graces of God. You Are The Salt of the Earth! For thousands of years, salt has been used as a pre- servative and a flavor enhancer. Salt allowed early civilizations to keep food longer and carry it long distances without spoilage. And there is a reason people say salt brings out the flavor of any dish. A touch of salt allows flavors to come forward that might other- wise be unnoticed by our palate. If youve ever read the nutrition label on some foods, youve probably been surprised by the amount of salt in a product that does not taste salty at all. So why does Jesus call the disciples the salt of the earth”? First, He is telling them that their purpose is to sustain the community with their ac- tions & Gods Word. By being living reminders of Gods message of salvation, the disciples were able to carry His Good News through- out the world. Jesus also warns that the disciples should not lose flavor”. This means they should not grow complacent in their task, for even the smallest act of kindness from the heart can awaken goodness in others. This is how the disciples of old—and we, the disciples of today—can bring the light of Jesus to the world.

Valentine’s Day gives us a chance to look at our relationships with others, especially those who we consider sweethearts.

You Are The Salt of the Earth! For thousands of years, salt has been used as a pre-

servative and a flavor enhancer. Salt allowed early civilizations to keep food longer and carry it

long distances without spoilage. And there is a reason people say salt brings out the flavor of any dish. A touch of salt allows

flavors to come forward that might other-wise be unnoticed by our palate. If you’ve

ever read the nutrition label on some foods, you’ve probably been surprised by the

amount of salt in a product that does not taste salty at all. So why does Jesus call the disciples “the salt

of the earth”? First, He is telling them that their purpose is to sustain the community with their ac-

tions & God’s Word. By being living reminders of God’s message of salvation, the disciples

were able to carry His Good News through-out the world.

Jesus also warns that the disciples should not “lose flavor”. This means they should not grow complacent in their task, for even the smallest

act of kindness from the heart can awaken goodness in others. This is how the disciples of

old—and we, the disciples of today—can bring the light of Jesus to the world.

What is a Good Steward? Good stewards generous-ly return a portion of all God has given to them, as “Stewards of God’s Grace.” They contribute to the ongoing building of His kingdom on earth. As good stewards, we work towards the fullness of His life for us by giving of our ‘first fruits.' Our goal is scriptural tithing, 10% of the first fruits. (cf. Gen 14:17-20).

Here is a suggested formula for distributing tithes: • 5% to the parish • 4% to charities that support Catholic teaching • 1% to the Diocese of Fargo

Giving Hearts Day - Feb. 13, 2020 There are many catholic charitable organizations that can benefit from your gift. These organiza-tions have matching funds in place for every do-

nation of $10 or more. Only the gifts given on this day via the web-site will be matched dollar for dollar.

2020 God’s Gift Appeal - Acting as a family, the dio-cese & its churches can support programs & services no single individual or parish can offer individually. Every gift to the Bishop’s appeal is vital & im-portant. Please be as generous as possible, & give back to God & His Church for all He has given to you.

Commitment Weekend is Feb. 23-24. Diocesan goal is 3,288,934. Our parish goals are:

Zeeland $12,838 Ashley $5,118

Wishek $8,874 Napoleon $49,968
