Section 1: Office 365 Setup Instructions

1. Introduction

This document lists the steps that needs to be carried out for setting up your Office 365 suite.

After following the prescribed steps, you would be able to use the entire suite of Microsoft

Office which includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft

Access, Microsoft OneNote and Microsoft OneDrive.

2. Setup Instructions

Step 1: Click on the link https://www.office.com/ which will then display the below page.

Click on the Sign in option below

Step 2: Enter your student email address below (e.g. *****@tccstudents.vic.edu.au) and then

click on Next

Step 3: Enter your student password given to you by the college and then click on Sign in

Step 4: Click on Yes when the below screen appears to avoid repeating Steps 18 and 19.

Step 5: If your entered username and password is correct, then the below screen would

appear. Click on the Install Office option below the Search bar and then click on Office 365

apps

Step 6: Once you click on Office 365 apps, the below screen will appear. Click on the Run

option. This will make sure that Office 365 is downloaded and installed on your laptop

Step 7: You will be asked for permissions to make changes to your device. Click on Yes

Step 8: Please wait for Office 365 to complete its download and installation (About 10

minutes depending on your internet speed).

Step 9: Once done, the below screen will appear that states that Office has completed its

installation. Click on the close option and close the web browser.

Step 10: Go to the Start menu or press the Windows key on the keyboard and type in

Outlook

Step 11: Enter you student email address again (e.g. *****@tccstudents.vic.edu.au) and

click on Connect

Step 12: Depending on your internet speed, after a few minutes the below screen will appear.

Please enter your student password given to you by the College and click on OK

Step 13: If you entered your password correctly then the below box will appear confirming

that your account has been setup. Click on OK to proceed and uncheck the box to set up

outlook on your phone

Step 14: Click on Accept and start Outlook in the below screen to proceed

Step 15: Click on Close in the below screen to proceed

Usually this would conclude all the steps, however, sometimes the below 2 additional steps

may be required

Step 16: Select the first option “I want to activate the software over the internet

(recommended)” and then click on Next

Step 17: Finally, the below screen will appear which states that your copy of Office 365 has

been activated. This step would also mean that all the other Microsoft products like Excel,

Word, Access, OneNote etc are activated.

3. Further Support

This concludes all the steps required to set up your office 365 account.

Section 2: Symantec Antivirus Setup

Instructions

1. Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection will try to prevent your laptop from malware and any kind of

intrusion from an unintended entity. While accessing the internet, many times you are routed

through different computers to get the information required. Every computer on this route is

capable of monitoring, capturing and storing your information. This software will try to make

sure that your privacy and confidentiality is maintained by preventing it from being accessed

by unauthorized users.

This antivirus is purchased by the college for every student. You can activate this antivirus on

only one device. You will receive an email in your college email account which can be

accessed from Microsoft Outlook previously installed as part of Office 365 on your laptop.

Please follow the below steps to get Symantec Endpoint Protection installed on your laptop.

2. Symantec Antivirus Setup Instructions

Step 1: Go to Microsoft Outlook and view the email sent from Symantec Security Cloud.

You can search for the email in the search box above. Click on Enrol Devices

Step 2: You will be redirected to a webpage that will look like the screenshot below. Click on

Enroll This Device

Step 3: Select Personal Device and then click on Next

Step 4: Your device is now ready to be enrolled. Click on Start Enrollment

Step 5: You will receive a notification asking you to Run or Save. Click on Run

Step 6: Click on Yes to allow the software to make changes to your device.

Step 7: Symantec Endpoint Protection will now begin downloading. Please let it complete.

If you have an antivirus software already installed on your laptop, this installer will prompt

you to uninstall them before you can proceed. Steps 8 to 13 will guide you through that

process. Please note that the screens displayed maybe different for you based on the

antivirus you have installed. However, it would have the same steps.

If you don’t have an antivirus installed on your laptop then you can proceed to step 14.

Step 8: As shown in the below screenshot, there maybe 2 instances of an antivirus installed.

Click on Uninstall for each of them. (Only one instance can be uninstalled at a time)

Step 9: Check the program to uninstall and click on Continue.

Step 10: Click on Continue to proceed.

Step 11: Click on Restart Later to continue installing Symantec Endpoint Protection.

If the uninstallation is unsuccessful for some reason. Click on Restart Later as above and

go back to step 8 and repeat the process. This usually solves the problem and lets you

proceed. You can also close the browser if it prompts you to. It is safe to do so

Step 12: Click on Ok to close all your open browsers.

Step 13: Click on Close to proceed.

Once all your existing antivirus software instances have been removed you will proceed to

the next step.

Step 14: You will be guided to the below screen which indicates that Symantec Endpoint

Protection is now Installing

Step 15: Once completed, the below screen will be displayed which means that the

installation has completed and you are now protected by Symantec antivirus.
