Appointment based tutoring is provided by theFaculty Nominated Peer Tutors. Faculty NominatedPeer Tutors are undergraduate students who have atleast Sophomore or Level 2 standing, maintain a 3.5grade point average and have received facultysupport. Academic Coaching aims to equip nursing studentswith the skills, strategies, and tools necessary toachieve success within the rigorous expectations ofthe School of Nursing curriculum.
Common Academic Coaching Topics:
Students can access Drop-In Tutoring and Reviewsessions on the OAS Canvas page under theConferences tab. Drop tutoring is conducted byAlumni Tutors who are graduates of the SON, havesuccessfully passed the NCLEX and a currentlyenrolled in a Rutgers graduate program or areworking in the medical field. Alumni Tutors can tutorall undergraduate nursing classes and apply theirexperience as nurses when helping studentsunderstanding nursing concepts.
Academic Coaching for Nursing Excellence workshops are held each semester to engage students in learningactivities and dialogue about strategies to advance learning and support scholarship.
The Office of Academic Success offers regular smallgroup tutoring for frequently requested courses.Students can join small-group tutoring for classesincluding Health Assessment and Pathophyiology. Students can join small-group tutoring by requestinga tutoring appointment.

The Writing Centers on the Rutgers University Newark and New BrunswickCampuses offer writing tutoring and writing workshops to allundergraduate students currently enrolled in classes at Rutgers University. Tutors can help students clarify an assignment; generate ideas; expand ontheir writing; review and revise drafts; improve grammar and style; andstrengthen reading and editing skills.
