BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION OFFICE (BTO)Catalyst for transforming the IC into an efficient and effective Intelli-gence Enterprise with standardized common business practices, includ-ing human resources and financial management processes. Established under the DNI in October 2008.

CENTER FOR SECURITY EVALUATIONJoint State Dept./DNI office protecting intelligence sources and meth-ods information at US diplomatic facilities abroad.Established in October 2001 as a DCI Center. In April 2005, realigned under the DNI.

INTEL ADVANCED RESEARCH PROJECTS ACTIVITY (IARPA)Invests in high-risk/high-payoff research that has the potential to provide our nation with an overwhelming intelligence advantage over future adversaries.Established in 2005 with existing components from NSA and CIA.

INTELLIGENCE TODAY OFFICEProduces a single centralized site allowing customers to access the IC’s most timely analytic insights on key national security decisions. De-signed specifically for senior policymakers who do not receive the PDB.Established under the DNI in February 2009.

MISSION SUPPORT CENTERProvides centralized administrative support for ODNI Mission & Sup-port activities, including infrastructure and personnel support services.Established in 2008 under the DNI.

MISSION MANAGEMENT TEAMS (COUNTRY-SPECIFIC)Integrate all collection and analysis on priority intelligence topics across IC.Teams include Iran, North Korea, Cuba/Venezuela, and Afghanistan/Pakistan.Created in November 2005 upon recommendation by the WMD Com-mission in its 2005 report.

NATIONAL COUNTERTERRORISM CENTER (NCTC)The primary organization in the United States for analyzing and integrating all intelligence possessed or acquired by the United States Government pertaining to terrorism and counterterrorism. Previously the Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTIC) which was managed by the DCI and began operations in May 2003. Realigned under ODNI as NCTC in 2005.

NATIONAL COUNTERINTELLIGENCE EXECUTIVE (NCIX)Head of national counterintelligence for the US Government. Provides a counterintelligence (CI) perspective in all IC support to policy makers and departments and agencies outside the IC.Created in 2001 under the DCI. Realigned under the DNI in April 2005 in accordance with IRTPA.

NATIONAL COUNTER-PROLIFERATION CENTER (NCPC)IC center for all US Government efforts to discourage, eliminate or counter current and future threats from biological, chemical, nuclear, and radiological weapons.Created under the DNI in November 2005 as recommended by the WMD Commission in May 2005.

NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE UNIVERSITY (NIU)Oversees and integrates IC education and training, including foreign language training and policy.Established in 2005 under the DNI.

NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE COORDINATION CENTER (NIC-C)The nation’s primary mechanism for the coordination, assessment, and efficient utilization of the total array of U.S. Intelligence capabilities. Co-located with the Defense Intelligence Operation Center.Established in October 2007.

NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE COUNCIL (NIC)IC’s center for mid-term and long-term strategic thinking; produces National Intelligence Estimates, the IC’s most authoritative written as-sessments on National Security Issues.Formed under the DCI in 1979.

PRESIDENT’S DAILY BRIEFING STAFF (PDB)Produces the classified daily briefing for the President and members of his Cabinet and senior staff.Created in 1947 and managed under the DCI until it was realigned under the DNI in 2005.

SPECIAL SECURITY CENTERLeads security clearance transformation and assists the DNI in sharing and protecting national intelligence information, creating standard secu-rity procedures and managing controlled access programs.Existed under the DCI until it was realigned under the DNI in 2007.
