In Memory of:

Gloria Hager( Born Sept 1st, 1931-Feb 13th, 2019)

Painesville Police Volunteer 2007-2019

• Gloria Hager, 87 years old, has been a volunteer with our Clerks Division for 13 years. Gloria passed away Wednesday Feb 13th, 2019. Gloria had been admitted to the hospital a few days earlier, and had worked here at the police department up to early last week. Gloria joined us as a volunteer back in November of 2007, and since that time she has put in countless hours assisting our records division. Gloria spent 40 years at Morley Library as the clerk-treasurer. Those who worked with Gloria will remember her kindness, her ever present smile, and her positive personality, as she always came in willing to help and ready to work. Gloria loved to take gambling trips and also loved to read. She enjoyed gardening, particularly tending to her rose garden. Gloria will be missed by all of us here at the Painesville Police Department.

• Calling hours for Gloria Hager will be on Saturday February 23rd from 11:00-12:00pm at the First Church of Christ (422 Mentor Ave.) Funeral service will follow immediately afterwards.

• Officer Tyukody is one of the few Lake County recipients of the Police Chief Associations Medal of Honor, bestowed upon him after he responded to the 800 block of E. Erie St. on April 30th, 2014, for a disturbance, during which a female fired a gunshot in Officer Tyukody’s direction. John and other officers ultimately took the female into custody unharmed.

• John has chosen to return to the City of Painesville as a Special Police Officer, working in a part time role as one of our dedicated City Hall Security Officers.

Department Awards:

Officer Ryan C. Cueni recipient of the Medal of Honor -awarded by the Lake County Chiefs of Police Association Sept 5th, 2018

• A 39-year-old male forced his way into a locked bedroom in Brentwood on Feb 2nd, 2017, holding a female victim at knifepoint, as her two young children ages 5 and 13 looked on only a few feet away. Officer Cueni made entry into the dark apt through a window, allowing his fellow officers to enter. Cueni entered the bedroom and engaged the suspect, ultimately turning his back to the suspect as he climbed over an overturned dresser to reach the children, which he then ushered to safety. The suspect was ultimately tasered by officers, with the woman and children left unharmed, and the suspect taken into custody.
