The Student Activity Fee for 2013-14 was $464 and used to support the operation, maintenance and

debt service expenditures for Student Centers and Activities, the Center for the Arts and for support of

various student activities as determined by the Student Budget Board. For 2013-14, $1,327,176 was

available to be allocated to support various student organizations, which included a base allocation of

$1,124,881 for fiscal year 2013-14, and $202,295 of unspent and/or unallocated funds carried forward

from the prior fiscal year.

Student organizations applying for student activity fee funding must submit budget requests to be

reviewed by the Student Budget Board (SBB). Only organizations that have registered with the Student

Centers and Activities, by the end of the fourth week of the Fall semester, are eligible to submit a

budget request. All organizations may be asked to appear before the board to present their request and

to answer questions of the board members. The board is governed by funding policies approved by the

Commission on Student Affairs.

The Student Budget Board, a standing committee under the Commission on Student Affairs (CSA), is

responsible for reviewing budget requests and making funding for University Chartered Student

Organizations (UCSO) and University Student Life Programs (USLP) organizations and Registered Student

Organizations (RSO). The Student Budget Board is accountable to the Commission for its funding

decisions and for approval of its policies. Its membership is composed of students, staff, and faculty.

The Student Budget Board is chaired and advised by the Associate Director of Student Centers and

Activities, a full time administrative professional staff person in the Department.

Prior to 2013-2014 there has been an auxiliary board, the Registered Student Organization Budget Board

(RSO BB) that had heard requests from all graduate and undergraduate Registered Student

Organizations (RSO’s). Beginning with the 2013-2014 year the Student Budget Board hears all funding

requests and the RSO BB is no longer operating. These changes were approved through the Commission

on Student Affairs in the Spring of 2013.
