NEW RESOURCESCarbon Farming Initiative Handbook
The Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) allows farmersand other land managers to earn carbon credits bystoring carbon or reducing greenhouse gasemissions on the land. These credits, known asAustralian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), can besold to people and businesses wishing to offset theiremissions.
The CFI also helps rural communities and theenvironment supporting sustainable farming bycreating incentives for landscape rehabilitation.
Participation in the CFI is voluntary; farmers andlandholders can choose whether or not to beinvolved.
The Department of Climate Change and EnergyEfficiency have issued a new handbook containinginformation about the Carbon Farming Initiative(CFI) and how it operates. It will also help youdecide what type of CFI activity might be right foryou, your business or your organisation.
Part One of the handbook explains how carbonmarkets and the CFI work.
