Club Planning for 4-H 2020What should your club be doing the first few months of the year? Planning of course! Please be sure that you are reviewing and ratifying club constitution and by- laws for the2020 program year. These two documents outline the expectations for membership in yourclub. ALL club members get to sign the ratified constitution and by-laws.
Plan out your annual club calendar with your membership. What have we done, what do we want to continue to do, and what do we want to add? I strongly suggest that every clubconsider some type of programming at every club meeting. Business is a very importantaspect of the 4-H club- but it is not the only reason to meet! Member demonstrations, guest presenters, field trips and hands-on learning activities should all be built into your club meetings throughout the year. What do your kids want to learn more about? All of this planning provides the important information and documentation that is required for your club to receive your annual charter.
A completed charter check- list, signed constitution and by-laws and club activity calendar/list are due no later than April 15th.
Forms, templates and more information on all of these items may be found on our website.
What is your club doing? We want to know! One of the best ways to get new ideas is to share with others. If you are interested in
submitting an article for the Clove Communicator, please e- mail Jackiby the 15th of the month.

• One reference that is not a friend orfamily member
OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM: Why and who should attendWith an ever growing population and concerns over food security, there is a need for a workforce of talented young scientists who are able to think critically about the issues associated with providing safe, economical, and aesthetically pleasing food and fiber. This one of a kind STEM camp will engage students in the various careers in science, engineering and technology in the food, fuel, and fiber industry that will be needed to face our world’s challenges. Through hands-on tours and activities in state-of-the-art laboratories, campers will get a unique look at what careers in STEM can entail. Days will be filled with learning from the top agricultural science companies and researchers at Ohio State and Central State Universities . Campers will have the opportunity to network with leaders in the industry while gaining a new perspective on the variety of careers available to them in Ohio related to food, fuel, and fiber production. At the end of each day, counselors will lead the students in leadership development activities and programs to show them how to prepare for college and their future careers.
This action packed week will be highlighted each day with a field trip to a different agricultural/food business (i.e. Smuckers, Mohican State Park, Select Sires) followed by an interactive, on-campus lab activity (i.e. food science, greenhouses, meat lab). Students will be challenged through various activities to discuss current scientific issues facing Ohio and the world. Daily activities will engage them as they critically think through such issues.
