GENERAL POINTS

The high-efficiency INSTANT CPR boiler is designed to meet all heating and domestic hot water heating needs. The unitis of unparalleled reliability and ensures safe operation, thanks to the extremely robust construction and use of fan-assistedburner technology.Particular attention has been paid to safety and quiet operation since this unit is designed mainly fordomestic use.The creation of an adequate draft through the combustion chamber and flue circuit by the burner fan prior toignition, as well as the room-sealed construction of the combustion chamber, guarantees the maximum possible level ofsafety.Domestic hot water is produced using a highly efficient braze-welded plate exchanger made from self-cleaning stain-less steel: the self-cleaning action is obtained by virtue of the special shape of the plates.

The INSTANT SP model (SP = no domestic hot water) is designed for domestic heating only, while the SP/A model provi-des central heating and also has an outlet for connection to a hot water storage cylinder.

INSTANT units can be connected to a room thermostat enabling automatic temperature control.

Warning: This boiler is designed to raise water to a temperature below boiling point at atmospheric pressure; it mustbe connected to a heating system and/or domestic hot water production and distribution unit, within the limits of itsoutput and performance specifications. Every other use of this equipment should be regarded as improper and the-refore dangerous.

The boiler must be installed by qualified professional fitters, in accordance with current standards and regulations onsafety.Faulty installation can cause damage to persons and property for which the manufacturer cannot be held responsible.

INSTALLING THE BOILER

After mounting the template to the wall (fig. 1), hook boiler unit to backplate as shown in figure 2. Before connecting upthe boiler, clean carefully, removing any encrustations and eliminating any foreign bodies which might detract from the effi-

ciency of the unit. The unit should be installed in an accessible position for ease of cleaning. Suitable stopcocks should befitted on all inlet and outlet pipes. Once the boiler has been mounted on the wall, the water connections can be completed (fig. C page 6). Unit safety valvesmust be connected up to a suitable outlet.

MANUAL FILLER

The INSTANT 25 boiler unit is equipped with a manual valve for filling the heating system. The INSTANT 25 SP and SP/A boiler (no domestic hot water) is provided with an attachment (on the backplate) inclu-ding a heating system filler valve for connection to the water supply, .The filling operation should be done slowly so that the air can escape through the series-mounted automatic air-vent valve,as well as through any other valves installed in the heating system. The filling pressure for the boiler when cold is indicated on the boiler pressure gauge on the boiler control panel and mustbe between 1 and 1.2 bar. This should be checked periodically. If the boiler pressure falls below the minimum value described above, the user must restore pressure by opening the valve.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The boiler is connected up using the plug (ref. A) located at the bottom of the unit.

IMPORTANT: The boiler unit must be connected to the electrical power supply following the existing legal safety stan-dards. The supply cable must have a minimum section of 1mm2 for lengthsof up to 2 metres, or 1.5mm2 for greater lengths.Electrical connection must include a section switch with a gap between con-tacts of at least 3 mm. so as to guarantee unit isolation from the power sup-ply.

CHECKING ROTATION OF THE CIRCULATION PUMP

IMPORTANT: Check before proceeding that neither the pump nor the waterare boiling and take necessary precautions to prevent possibility of injury fromscalding or damage in the event of leaks. The pump is interlocked to the minimum temperature thermostat and will beshut off temporarily whenever the boiler water temperature falls below a mini-mum.Bleeding the circulation pump:

- loosen the plug A and bleed out any air;- expect water to drip from the cap opening after air bleeding and take pre-

cautions to prevent any ensuing damage to otpump components;

- retighten the plug A.Freeing a seized pump:

- remove plug A- try to rotate the impeller using a screwdriver inserted into the slot on the shaft, taking care not to damage the slot;- replace plug A, checking that there is no leak.

STARTING UP THE CIRCULATION PUMPBefore turning the appliance and pump on, make certain that the system is filled with water and has been properly bled.Circulation pumps may be noisy when starting up for the first time; this can be caused by a small quantity of air trapped inthe circuit. Follow bleeding procedure as above.

N.B. After a long period of inactivity, for example the summer period, the pump may seize. To free it, follow the proceduredescribed above.

OPERATION OF THE BOILER

Use of 0-I switch (all models) and ✹ - ❄ selector (CPR ed SP/A)

In the 0 position the switch isolates the boiler from the power supply; in position I the control panelis connected to the power supply. In the ✹ position the ✹ - ❄ selector ensures that the boiler produ-ces only domestic hot water; in the ❄ position the boiler can deliver central heating and domestichot water, with hot water taking priority.

CPR AND SP/A MODELSWINTER OPERATION (production of domestic hot water and central heating water, hot water taking priority).

Set the selector to the ❄ symbol (winter operation). In the CPR model, the boiler switches on and starts up in central heating mode, raising and maintaining the water tempera-ture in the boiler to the temperature set with the boiler thermostat; the pump starts up whenever the temperature reachesthe value set on the minimum temperature thermostat. When the room thermostat contacts open, the heating cycle is com-pleted. If hot water is drawn off, the boiler will automatically switch to hot water production when there is a demand forhot water (e.g. if a tap is turned on); the temperature of the hot water in the boiler is controlled by the domestic hot waterthermostat.

Warning: unlike double pipe systems, air is not automatically bled out in a single pipe system. It is therefore essen-tial to bleed the line on first operation as even a minimal infiltration of air in the fuel line will cause the burner toshut down.

SUNTEC PUMP

To convert the SUNTEC pump:1) Remove the socket screw A located inside the return

port.2) Blank off the return port with a metal plug and seal.

WARNING: To guarantee smooth and efficient operation of the appliance, the difference in height between fueltank and burner should be no more than 3.5 metres. For greater differences it is essential to install a fuel lift pump (see diagram). Also, the condition and cleanliness of the fuel line filter should also be checked periodically, and thefilter replaced where necessary.

BURNER SUPPLIED BY LIFT PUMP

Hydraulic diagram

When it is impossible for the pump to draw fuel from the tankatmospherically, due to the boiler being sited on an upper storey, anauxiliary electric pump will need to be installed. The figure shows apossible arrangement, with two separate appliances supplied from asingle tank. The electrical connection is made such that the auxiliarypump will switch off when all burners are shut down.N.B. Maximum fuel supply circuit pressure MUST NOT exceed 2bar; the preferred operating pressure is 0.5 bar.

Electrical diagram

The auxiliary pump control must not be connected directly in paral-lel with the burner pump, as this would lead to excess currentdemand.A relay should therefore be installed, connected as shown in the dia-gram.

NOZZLE TABLE

SNORKEL CONNECTION FOR COMBUSTION AIR SUCTION FROM THE OUTSIDE.

The serial Snorkel arrangement of the INSTANT GASOLIO thermal unit, allows to con-nect the burners air intake to the outside through an independent air duct, for the suction ofthe needed combustion air. Such an air duct must be sealed toward the inside room andrespect the following specifications:90° bend + 5m max of ø80mm duct length.

CONNECTION OF GAS FLUE

Combustion gases must be ducted to a chimney or to an anti-refouler equipped flue, con-nected to the outside, made in such a way so as to ensure a proper combustion and to avoidthe gases to get in contact with walls, peoples, animals etc.Said duct must be designed so as to be in depression and/or sealed, and made of suitable,smoke-corrosion proof materials. In every point, no matter the outdoor conditions, gas tem-perature must not be higher than the one of dew point. The max. length of gas flue is of 5 m+ a 90° bend.

NOTE: Flue ends must be located in such a way that exhaust gases might not causedamages in case of bad combustion.

ROOM VENTILATION

IMPORTANT: In case the INSTANT GASOLIO thermal unit is mounted without the Snorkel duct for outdoor combustion air suc-tion, it is necessary to make a hole toward outside of, at least, 180 cm2.

Sealed air box, soundproof, withserial SNORKEL connection.

REGULATING COMBUSTION

WARNING: Regulation of combustion must be performed by a professionally quali-fied and authorised technician. INSTANT 25 boiler are factory regulated by themanufacturer. In the event of further regulation being required, read the followinginstructions carefully.

1 - Light the boiler ("winter" setting) and set the thermostat to maximum tempera-ture.

2 - Position the air regulator slide according to flow rate (approximate).3 - Set the pump pressure to the desired value (or replace the oil nozzle, see table

below).4 - Analyse combustion and regulate air flow rate accordingly by adjusting air regu-

lator slide on the burner (having loosened the securing screw) as shown in thefigure.

The sample point must be close to the boiler and the flue connection (no farther than3 - 5 times the flue diameter from the boiler connection).
