A hint for preventative maintenance
We recommend that you replace your filter elements regularly!
Generally speaking, the filter element should be replaced about once a year. This is just a guideline. The amount of oil mist flowing to the secondary side differs according to working conditions. To keep your system at optimal conditions, replacement needs to be carried out at the appropriate period.

Design/selection
Safety PrecautionsAlways read this section before use.Refer to "Pneumatic, Vacuum and Auxiliary Components (No. CB-024SA)" for product-specific cautions.
WARNING CAUTION This product is designed for industrial use. Do not use for medical purposes, or in any equipment or circuit that concerns human life.
The plastic bowl is made of polycarbonate. It cannot be used in environments containing synthetic oil, organic solvents, chemicals, cutting oil, screw locking agent, leak detection solutions, or hot water, etc., or where these substances may come in contact with the product.
Refer to page 8 for details on plastic bowl chemical resistance.
The clear cover of the differential pressure switch is made of nylon. Refer to page 8 for details on chemical resistance.
Piping load torque Make sure that no piping load or torque is applied
to the body or pipes.
Avoid the manner of piping shown below.
Avoid piping fixed with a single support, as this can result in excessive force and lead to damage.
Series 2000-W 3000-W 4000-W 6000-W
Max. torque N∙m 15 50 50 100
High moisture levels Install the air dryer, drain separator, and drain
discharger before the filter. If there is a large drainage from the compressor, hot and
highly humid air could shorten the device's life or result in corrosion.
Water-lubricated compressor circuit Take measures to prevent chlorine-based
substances from entering the compressed air.
Use the auto-drain under the working conditions below. Failure to observe this could result in operation faults.
A compressor with a capacity of 0.75 kw or less can also be used.
Set the working pressure to 0.15 MPa or more.
7
Ensure that large amounts of drainage do not flow directly from the piping. Install a drain discharger if there is a large amount of direct drainage.
Oil Mist Filter Series
Mounting, installation and adjustment
Avoid installing this product where it is subject to direct ultraviolet.
Flush and clean the pipes. Dirt or foreign materials in piping will lower product
performance. Check that foreign materials do not enter when tightening pipes or fittings.
When screwing in piping or fittings, check that swarf from port threads or sealant does not get inside. Dirt or foreign matter remaining in the piping will deteriorate product performance.
For correct use1. Confirm the direction of the arrow indicating the air inlet
before connecting. A reverse connection could result in improper operation.
2. Install the filter and the lubricator case downward vertically. Install the differential pressure switch type so that the differential pressure switch is located at the top. (Drainage may be defective or drip check may become impossible.)
3. Avoid use of the auto-drain where vibrations are present, as they could cause faults and malfunctions.
4. Do not move or swing the product by the lead wire on the differential pressure switch. This may lead to failure.
5. Do not pull on the lead wire of the differential pressure switch with excessive force This may lead to failure.
6. Do not mistake the wiring direction of the lead wire of the differential pressure switch. It may cause a malfunction, such as the LED lamp not turning on.
7. The differential pressure switch requires load resistance. Install the load resistance so that the load voltage/load current is within the range of the specifications.
CAUTION Drain piping of the auto-drain should be piped under the following conditions.
Otherwise, malfunctions may result. Use an inner diameter of φ5.7 and over and piping
of 5 m and over for the drainage section. Avoid use vertical piping. Pipe so that no lateral load applies on the bowl.
Use proper torque to tighten the pipes when connecting them.
To prevent air leak and to protect threads from damage. First tighten the screw by hand to ensure that threads are not damaged, then use a tool.
Drain piping The drain piping for the plastic bowl has a barbed nipple, and can be directly installed. However, confirm that the drain cock is closed before inserting the tube.
Pipe so that no lateral load applies on the bowl. Do not fix the tube connected to the drain outlet with a
lateral load applied. If drainage is performed with a lateral load applied, external leakage may occur.
Contact CKD when attaching a separate valve to the tube tip that is inserted to the drain outlet to control drainage.
Tightening torque of drain cock The max. tightening torque of the drain cock of the plastic bowl is 0.5 N·m.
[Recommended values]Port thread Tightening torque N·m

Perform a periodic inspection once every six months or less to check for any cracks, scratches, or other damage on the plastic bowl of the filter.
Replace the bowl with a new one if you find any such damage, as it may lead to failure.
Check the plastic bowl of the filter periodically for contamination.
If it is contaminated or if transparency has decreased, replace with a new bowl.
Use diluted household detergent to wash parts. Rinse them out well with clean water afterward.
Removing bowl of filter Stop the compressed air supply. Release the
pressure in the bowls completely and make sure that there is no residual pressure before removing the bowls.
Drain so that the filter moisture does not accumulate beyond the upper limit.
Components could malfunction if drainage flows into the secondary side.
The resin bowl must not be filled above the points marked "upper drain limit" or "MAX LEVEL" on the bowl guard.
During Use & maintenance
Clogging of the mantle will decrease performance, so inspect and replace components regularly.
The mantle (element) life ends after one year (6,000 hours) or when pressure drops to 0.1 MPa. Replace the mantle with a new one at the end of its life. (Do not touch the urethane foam layer when replacing the mantle.)
Replace the mantle (element) before the differential pressure switch indicator's color changes completely to red.
When there is output from the differential pressure switch, change the mantle quickly.
Components could malfunction or service life may decrease if oil concentration flows into the secondary side.
The mark formed on the clear cover for the indicator is a guideline for judgment during maintenance. Note that there may be discrepancies with the differential pressure output.
At startup or other air supply operations, there may be difference in flow rate unrelated to clogging, along with switch output. Reduce the difference in flow rate by installing a slow start valve V33 *1 in front of the filter or releasing the output holding mechanism of the control unit before use.

The chemical resistance of plastic parts is shown below. Avoid using products in an atmosphere where chemicals are contained in compressed air, the atmosphere, or where they could adhere to parts.
Use in the above state could lead to bowl damage and accidents. Avoid using with these types of chemicals or in an atmosphere containing these chemicals.
WARNINGChemical resistance of plastic
There is no output holding mechanism in the differential pressure switch. Note that when stopping the unit or other times when air is not flowing through the filter, output will turn OFF. (When holding the output, consider a holding circuit on the fluid control components side.)
The differential pressure switch may malfunction if there is a magnetic substance such as a steel plate installed nearby. Check that a distance of 10 mm or more is provided from the surface of the indicator.
Do not disassemble or modify the product. The differential pressure switch's detection accuracy will be reduced. Take particular care, since no additions can be made to differential pressure switches Q2 and Q3.
When connecting an inductive load (relay, etc.) or capacious load, the contact service life may be reduced due to surge voltage or rush current. Install a contact protection circuit before use.
Usage in an environment with a strong magnetic field may lead to malfunction of the differential pressure switch. Do not use this product in strong magnetic field environments.
CAUTION Read instructions and precautions enclosed with the product before use or maintenance.
Drainage starts when the cock is turned in the O direction, and stops when the cock is turned in the S direction. Tighten by hand in the S direction.
When auto-drain is available, drainage is discharged automatically when it accumulates. Drainage can also be discharged manually.
