Crown Regency Hotels and Towers is located at Fuente Towers, Osmena Boulevard Sta. Cruz, Cebu City 6000 Philippines.

How to get to the hotel from Mactan Cebu International Airport: Take Airport Road then turn left on Pusok Ave.

Head on to Marcelo Fernan Bridge, then turn left on Cebu North Road to Pier 4. Finally, turn right on Gen. Maxilom Ave. to Fuente Osmea.

Ownership/ Management

Crown Regency Hotel and Towers is owned by the J. King & Sons Inc. and is managed by the Resort Club of the Pacific.

The Company J. King & Sons Trading was started in the 1950s by the family patriarch Jesus King. Beginning with the textile store called the Kings Remnant up to the 1060s. In the 1972 it was incorporated to J. King & Sons Company, where it ventured into real estate development. J, King & Sons Company Inc. sees itself as a globally recognized company that offers consistent products and services in the key business and leisure destinations.

King put Prince Court in Mandaue City in the mid 1990s. Later, he built another motel, Kings Court. This started Kings foray in the hospitality business. Under the mother company, J. King and Sons, are several subsidiaries: Crown Regency Hotels and Resorts, Club Ultima, Fuente Triangle, First Laundry, Vital C Health Products Inc., Prana Medispa, Sky Experience Adventure, Prince Court

Sea Manager- is in charge for all operations running in the Department. Directs the performance of the team.Sea asst. Manager-is assigned to check the whole areas of the Department and supervises the staffs. And task to help the ManagerSea supervisor- he is assigned to supervise on what is needed to be done. Also in-charge of all operation.Team leader- like a supervisor, she is also tasked to make the schedules of the staffs and in charge for checking of the materi\als needed. Receptionist- a person whose job is to deal with the guests upon entering and who will give the instruction before riding.Photographers- they are assigned to take a picture of the guests while riding or having skywalk extreme, since they are not allowed to bring their cameras with them.OJTs- are task to learn their work and to help.

Operations Systems and Procedure

The operation system of Sky Adventure Department: first thing to do is you need to go first to the 19th floor which is the sky lounge where you will register your names and buy your tickets. Secondly, go to a certain counter which you chose to have a ride. Lastly, they will give you the instructions. And after that, you can already experience the chosen ride.

They have all the same schedule since their operation starts at 2pm and ends at 12 am for the rides and 1 pm for the Club 36 (Mondays-Fridays). For the weekend schedule, they have two shifts: The opening shift and the closing shift. Opening shift will start at 10am and ends at 10pm and the closing shift will duty at 2pm until 1:00am, since, the operation time for the weekend starts and 10am and ends to 1:00am. Work Atmosphere The Sky Adventure Department has a unique place because of the view where you can see the whole Cebu and the beautiful city lights at night. This Department also gives every guest a truly unique leisure experience that will certainly take your breath away. For the employees: there are some employees who are just staring at the Trainees while doing something even if the trainee was very tired of doing the task. They should also work without supervision. But somehow, we are very thankful to them because they treated us well and taught. Use of Material Resources Harness Rail seat Auto-belay system Sky Observatory Apparatus Motorized Zip line Sanitation Procedure The housekeeping are in charge of cleaning the Department before opening and the employees also in the Sky Adventure Department also observed sanitation while on duty. The skywalk and the Zip line use socks for their shoes, so after each ride, the guests are being instructed to throw their socks after each use for sanitation purposes. Executive chef- This person is in charge of all activities related to the kitchen, which usually includes menu creation, management of kitchen staff, ordering and purchasing of inventory, and plating design. Secretary- a person whose job is to handle record, letters, etc. Pastry chef- is a station chef in a professional kitchen, skilled in the making of pastries, desserts, breads and other baked goods. Sous Chef- the head of the kitchen. He/She is the next to the executive chef in position. Head chef- in charge of supervising to cooks and to taste. Cook- in charge for cooking the menu ordered Commissary- in charge for keeping the stocks and cutting the raw materials. Steward-in charge for washing the dishes that was used by the kitchen. Operations Systems and Procedure The orders are being taken by the waiters and are given to the kitchen. After which, the kitchen will cook the orders and rang the bell when its done. Facilities and Equipment -Walk in Freezer A walk-in freezer is a very big storage for all meats, poultry, vegetables, fruits and etc. -Blender Use the machine to puree foods and blend. -Pots and pans Pots and pans in the kitchen come in various sizes and have different purposes. Frying pans are for stove top use and you can saut or fry foods in this. You use pots on the stove top to boil food or water. You can also use them to simmer or stew foods. When you bake or broil you need pans, dishes and sheets that can go to the oven or under the broiler. Pots and pans are made of stainless steel, cast iron and a variety of metal blends. -Bain Maries Bain maries are used for keeping food warm for a longer period and to serve on instantly. Manpower Scheduling The scheduling of the kitchen department is done by the executive chefs secretary in their office. There are many shifts in this department, the morning shift, the afternoon shift , the evening shift and, the graveyard shift . The morning shift starts at 6am until 3pm, the afternoon shift is from 2pm until 8pm,the evening shift starts at 5pm until 3am and the graveyard shift is 11pm until 9 am. Work Atmosphere The workers are responsible in doing their tasks. The employees of the kitchen is sometimes busy, but still the employees are enjoying their work. The kitchen uses exhaust fan for the smoke in the cooking area. Use of Material Resources The raw materials in the all kitchen outlet are stored in the walk-in freezer. They are required to make a requisition form for them to get the raw materials needed every day. Each raw material are put in a plastic and delivered in the kitchen who requested and put all of those into the storage room where all freezer were there. Sanitation Procedure They observed FIFO: first in, first out procedure.They clean and sanitize the surface that comes in contact with food, such as a cutting board, utensil and knife after each use. All the dishes are being monitored by a steward which also responsible of throwing the garbage every day. F and b manager- is the head of all outlet managers. He is the one in charge to supervise the outlet manager on what is running on their business. Outlet manager-is the manager of a restaurant inside the hotel which is in charge, in charge to be the head of a certain restaurant. Supervisor- the job description is to give supervision for the captain waiter and the waiters and task to do the actions on what is going to be done. Captain waiter- is the head of all waiters and waiters. He is allowed to supervise also the waiters or waitress, serves as the leader also. Waiters/waitress- in charge to entertain the guest, to serve and to take the orders. Operations Systems and Procedure All the staffs and the OJTs had an assigned duties and responsibilities before the opening of the restaurant. In the operation, the employees and the OJTs took the orders of the guests and make the order slip before giving it to the kitchen or bar counter. Facilities and Equipment Veranda Cutleries Glassware Flatware Bar Equipment and etc. Manpower Scheduling There are two shifts in the restaurant that we are assigned and this restaurant also is a broken schedule since the operation starts at 11 and close at 2 in the afternoon and they will open again at 6pm until 10, to start of 9am to 1pm-4 until 9 in the evening. The second shift starts at 10 am until 2pm-5 until 10 in the evening. Each of us are assigned in different areas some of us are in the bar, reception area, station 1 and station 2 of the tables, and in the appetizers and desserts assigned. Work Atmosphere The place is very Chinese set-up and they also have their veranda where you can relax while watching the city lights and the view of whole Cebu. As what Ive observed, their service is 100% superb because all of the guests comments are the same and we can also witness that they are really giving a very good service. And I could say that Wan Shan Lo which means House if the Emperor gave us a very meaningful and helpful training in our career. Our Supervisor was the one who trains us and the one who would never allow any OJTs that will leave Wang Shan Lo without the skills, abilities, and especially the learning. The male staffs are very supportive and they also taught us in dining area and they also have the word PROFESSINALISM. Some of the Female staffs are snob and they dont know how to say the magic words such as please or a simple thank you for the OJTs. They dont have the Professional attitude while in the operation because they brought all their personal problems or what in the operation which can affect the treatment of the Practicumer. Use of Material Resources After the operation, we will get all the dishes that were washed by the steward, and we are going to polish the clean dishes and steam the Goblets. After polishing, we task to set it back to the tables. When talking about the Linens, such as, the table cloth, table napkins and etc. they were all arranged in the waiters station for us to find it easy. Sanitation Procedure The Outlet Manager and the Supervisor is very strict about the sanitation of the restaurant. They will not allow guests to see dirt in the table as well as in the chairs. We are all task to have dusting, sweeping, and mopping. We also include the wiping of the chairs every day and also checking of the condiments as well as cleaning the Lazy Suzan. Executive Housekeeper- directs and controls all housekeeping operations and the staff of the housekeeping department. He has to coordinate between housekeeping crews in order to inspect assigned areas and to ensure standards. Supervisor- is in charge to check the works of the attendant and supervises what should be done. Room Attendant- in charge to maintain the cleanliness of the room. The following are their specific job description: check that rooms have been vacated before cleaning make beds daily and change bed linen vacuum carpets, floors and upholstery clean bathrooms and supply with fresh towels and toiletries check and restock tea, coffee, sugar, milk and mini bar supplies make sure that televisions, radios, lights and air conditioning equipment are working report to a supervisor if articles are left behind by guests, if there is damage to rooms or if any items appear to have been stolen take laundry and dry cleaning orders from guests. Public Attendant- in charge to monitor the public area. The following their specific job description: 1.Cleans rooms, hallways and restrooms. 2.Cleans and maintains restaurants and banquet halls. 3.Sweeps carpets. 4.Empties ashtrays and urns. 5.Polishes furniture and fixtures. 6.Vacuums and polishes elevators. 7.Keeps the front of the hotel free from trash. 8.Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner , broom and shampoo machine. 9.Washes walls and ceilings, moves and arranges furniture, and turns mattresses. 10.Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors. 11.Dusts and polishes metal work. 12.Collects solid linen supplies in floor linen closets. 13.Maintains housekeeping carts. 14.Removes trash collected by room attandants. 15.Responsible for upkeep of all the equipment which he is using i.e., Vacuum cleaner, trolleys, Scrubbing machine. 16.Responsible for maintaining a time schedule for cleaning of their areas. 17.Responsible for spring cleaning of their area as per the schedule given to them. 18.Authorised to enter into offices for maintenance or other activities like pest control, shampooing of carpet etc. Operations Systems and Procedure All the staffs are deployed after briefing. They are all going to their areas and clean. For the room attendants, they are going to have a room check first before cleaning. After the room check they will start cleaning the vacant dirty room while waiting for the make- up room sign. At 2 pm if the guest is expected to due-out that day but still they are in the room, the attendant will automatic clean the room because it means the guest will extend their stay. The Public Area has 3 shifts which are the Morning Shift, the Afternoon Shift and the Graveyard Shift; the morning shift will start at 7am, the afternoon shift will start at 2pm and the Graveyard shift will start at 10 pm. Room area has 2 shifts which are the morning until afternoon and the graveyard shift; the morning to afternoon shift dutys at 8 am until 5pm and the graveyard dutys at 9pm. Work Atmosphere The OJTs are very warm-welcomed and treated as their family. The executive housekeeper, Mr. Juven Gonzalez always recognizes us because we are from St. Paul and he also loves our school. All of the staff is being task to speak English to practice their ability when talking to the guest. Use of Material Resources They will get all of their materials for cleaning at the stock room and also the amenities. The amenities were prepared by the Guest Request assigned. All the chemicals for cleaning are used by the Room Attendant and Public Attendant, such as: TBC, APC, Air-freshener, zonrox and etc.For the room attendant: the towels, bed sheet, duvet, duvets filling are brought to the laundry room and being segregated. Sanitation Procedure They are practice to SRD which means Scrub, Rinse and Dry. The room attendant change the towels every Make-up room service and throw all the used dental kit and change. For the Public Area, they are monitoring the elevators (inside and out), comfort rooms, glasses and the floor. They are monitoring the trashes inside the comfort rooms as well as the wet. They also put air-freshener with a candle for the smell to stay. STRENGTH The Facilities, Equipment, and Entertainment serves as the major strength of the company. Due to their facilities, equipment, and entertainment, they persuade guests to come and made these strengths as their asset. The biggest asset of this establishment for me is the Sky Experience Adventure for they gave the company a very unique and exciting leisure experience that will certainly take your breath away. The location also serves as their asset for it is located at the heart of the Queen City of South which gives the guests convenience to the major points of commerce and recreation. The pride of the hotel is their title which is the tallest hotel of Cebu City, which can give a majestic view of uptown Cebu City. WEAKNESS As what I have observed the company has a weakness when it comes to checking of bags of their employees that are coming out and in of the building. Another the guards should also follow the policy which is the No Employee to Employee Relationship since they serve as the role model of all the employees due to their duties as security. The management for what I have observed dont know how to love and care to their employees due to their hard work with less salary and other benefits. RECOMMENDATIONS I recommend that they should change the lights that can be seen outside because for me it kind of look like a gay KTV bar. They should strictly observance proper hygiene in the kitchen especially for men. I have also observed that they hired personnel and assigned directly to higher position, because the staffs from lower position will not be motivated to work more effectively because they know they will never be promoted. There is no problem to hire personnel and promote directly to higher position if they also came into higher position before. Promoting their employee to higher position could be a motivation for other employees to do excellent in their job. CONCLUSION The location of Crown Regency Hotel and Towers is perfect for a unique leisure experience. It is located at the heart of the Queen city of the South which can attract guests to come. They can also boost the economic status of Cebu because they pay big taxes and attract a lot of travelers to visit their hotel. They accommodate the guest with warm-welcomed upon entering the premises of the hotel. With the major asset of the Hotel which is the Sky Experience Adventure all kinds of tourists are attracted to Crown Regency Hotel and Towers. Not only in the Sky Experience Adventure can Crown Regency Hotel & towers compete but also with their rooms, function room and other amenities. Also the foods and service of the hotel are very unique. Attracting all kinds of tourists in our country Crown Regency Hotel & Towers is truly one of a kind. LEARNING EXPERIENCE Being an OJT in the Crown Regency Hotel and Towers has broadened my knowledge and experience as a student. Living in Cebu for almost 4 months has given me a lot of experience on how to cope up with different environment compared to what I have been accustomed to. i can say that I have learned a lot from the OJT. I have learned how to stand on my own without much supervision. Leaving far in your family will make you an independent person for you are going to budget your money and time. Being tired from work I have learned that it is not easy to make a living. Even though there were hardships and sacrifices in my OJT it was over all fun and exciting. There were a lot of moments that even though it was hard I could still find a ways to be happy. This OJT is truly a step forward to a brighter future.
