The Oklahoma Board of Nursing held its fourth regular meeting of FY 2017 on January 24, 25 & 26,

2017. Notice of the meeting was filed with the Secretary of State’s Office on December 9, 2016.

Notice/agenda was posted outside the meeting room at the Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown, 1

North Broadway Avenue, 2nd Floor Ballroom, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and on the Oklahoma

Board of Nursing website. A notice/agenda was also posted on the Cameron Building front entrance

at 2915 N. Classen Blvd., Oklahoma City, as well as the Board office, 2915 N. Classen Blvd., Suite

revisions and the Rule Impact Statement was made available on the agency’s website at

http://www.nursing.ok.gov/rules.html.

report to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions, Dr.

Teressa Hunter.

(b) Platt College Practical Nursing Program, Oklahoma City, has a new

Director of Education, Deveda Mason. Platt College Practical Nursing

Program, Moore has a new Executive Director, Patricia Wheeler, and a

Program, Goodwell, has been temporarily inactivated.

intent to discontinue associate degree nursing education program in

January 2017.

(e) Cynthia Wakeman, BSN, RN, accepted the position of Practical

Nursing Program Coordinator for Southwest Technology Center,

replacing Douglas Johnston, BSN, RN, who is now the Health Science

The agency currently has 28.2 FTEs. Debra Nagel was hired as a Nurse Investigator and began her

employ on January 3rd. Starla Griffith will return to full time hours and continue in her position as a

Nurse Investigator, bringing the agency to a full 29 FTEs following her return in February.

K. Glazier reported on a presentation she provided to members of the Senate Select Agency

Subcommittee on January 23, 2017, regarding the agency budget, statistical data and fees. There were

no other meetings with members of the Oklahoma Legislature since the last meeting of the Board.

K. Glazier reported there were no meetings with members of the Oklahoma Executive Branch since

the last meeting of the Board.

K. Glazier reported on agency progress toward key elements needed in anticipation of the agency’s

participation in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) as well as the timeline for expected

implemented. The eNLC will become effective when 26 states have passed law adopting the compact

or December 31, 2018, whichever occurs soonest. K. Glazier distributed to Board Members and the

Assistant Attorney General the draft grant proposal submitted to NCSBN for implementation of the

eNLC.

K. Glazier reported on legislation the agency is tracking. K. Glazier gave a verbal report only with no discussion on the following:

The individuals approved by the agency’s cabinet secretary to attend the National Council of State

Boards of Nursing Mid-year meeting were L. Klingensmith and K. Glazier.

The Oklahoma Board of Nursing Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2016 was provided in the Board

member onsite materials.

The agency has not yet received information back from the Attorney General’s office on the opinion

request made related to expungement.

The request for a special hearing has been submitted to Governor Fallin’s office. K. Glazier has been

notified the request is currently pending within the Governor’s legal department.
