If you add different sets of cards please send them to the address below for expanding our library.

Preparation:Print out the A4 sheets. If possible laminate the Venn Diagram (after joining the two sides together), the Sorting Board and theBingo Boards.Cover the two Noun Card pages with ‘clear pvc self adhesive book cover film’. Then cut out the squaresto make the cards. We have left some cards blank for students to add their own words.

HOW TO PLAY:This sorting activity can be done in groups of three or four or as a whole class.Students sort the Compound Noun Cards according to whether they know the word or not onto theSorting Board. The groups can compare their words before they look up all the remaining unknown words in anappropriate dictionary.Next, students look at the Noun Cards and decide where to place them on the Venn Diagram.Encourage them to discuss how they came to their conclusions.

We have also provided six Bingo Boards so that you can use the Noun Cards to play bingo in groups. This will reinforce the learning of any new compound nouns.

Learning Outcomes:Students will have learned the meaning of compound nouns as well as having broadened theirvocabulary. If you have found further learning outcomes please share them by [email protected], quoting LitCN1.0
