The $50 was taken from a safe in a" bedroom at the home of Leo K. Shiya, 7204 Buffalo Ave., who operates a restaurant adjacent to his home. .Police sai dthe theft was com- mitted between 8 o'closk last eve- ning 1 and 12:50 o'clock this morn- ing. Entry was gained by removing a screen from a bedroom window and breaking the window. Shiya told police he had left the safe door open when he last used it last evening. At the Henwood .Motel, 9401 Pine Ave., police were told an attempt was made Tuesday night to pry off a wall at the rear of the motel office. $50 Is Taken From Safe

A theft of $50 from a safe at a home and a breakin at a motel were under police investigation today.

The $50 was taken from a safe in a" bedroom at the home of Leo K. Shiya, 7204 Buffalo Ave., who operates a restaurant adjacent to his home.

.Police sai dthe theft was com­mitted between 8 o'closk last eve­ning1 and 12:50 o'clock this morn­ing.

Entry was gained by removing a screen from a bedroom window and breaking the window.

Shiya told police he had left the safe door open when he last used it last evening.

At the Henwood .Motel, 9401 Pine Ave., police were told an attempt was made Tuesday night to pry off a wall at the rear of the motel office. A. window was forced in a motel adjoining the office, it was said. There was no report of any theft.

Possible Arson Is Under Probe In Garage Fire

The fire-police arson squad to­day was investigating the possibil­ity of arson after a fife which re­sulted 'in $350 damage at a garage at the rear of 1734 LaSalle Ave, last evening.

Police and fire fighters were told boys were seen playing in the area prior to the fire which originated outside the" garag* and spread to the interior of the building.
