Dear Parents, Families and Friends Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through recent issues. It was a difficult period and we needed to ensure that matters were handled with professionalism and sensitivity. There were some quite serious allegations made and these were handled in consultation with departmental and government authorities and included discussion with the Director to ensure procedures were followed correctly. Relieving Director, Peter Flannery is fully aware of the situation and he is working with me to ensure that we are able to move forward positively.
There have been significant changes around the school. We have had to terminate Justin’s contract as we have lost our integration funding. We will all miss Justin and wish him the best in his future career and especially in his personal life as enters married life on the 27th September. He was a very popular, hardworking member of staff. We had a farewell party for Justin and he has promised to return, when he can, to check on the progress of the students and share some of their achievements. It has also meant that our numbers have dropped to 6, although projected numbers are positive.
For some time I have expressed concerns regarding the use of social media as a form of communication. We are committed to resolving complaints promptly at a local level. We encourage you to raise any concerns directly with the school or service in person, by email, over the telephone or by letter if you prefer. Please remember we also love to hear compliments and positive comments.
Cultural day was an absolute buzz! The Philippine inspired play and dance was performed brilliantly. Isaac, though “sad”, performed his narrator role (with all those lines!) confidently. Our “tug of peace” team and ball game teams performed very well and this part of the day proved to be a lot of fun. Well done everyone and thank you to parents for supporting your children and helping with the organisation.
We have listened to your concerns regarding transporting students to events and have hired Clarks’ bus for Musica Viva on Monday and to transport students to Rukenvale Public School today for a bike day. This is proving to be expensive, particularly now with only 6 students. I believe these opportunities are extremely important and I am currently reviewing and weighing up whether this is the best way of utilising school funds. I would welcome your feedback.
Have a great weekend
Please do not hesitate to contact the school for any help or further information.

Snakes and spiders alike are both venomous and can potentially be deadly, but my
peers and I have reason and evidence to believe that snakes are more dangerous.
For example, snake venom works far faster than spider venom and I know that snakes
often give a dry bite but is it worth the risk? Brown snakes can kill in a matter of
minutes whereas even the most deadly of spiders you would probably have more
time to get to medical attention.
Not meaning to frighten you but Australia has seven out of ten of the most venomous
snakes in the world and Africa has the rest. We all know the taipan; one drop of its
venom can kill one hundred fully-grown men. That makes a funnel web look like a
pussycat. There is also the brown snake it can kill you in ten minutes and it can be
living on your doorstep. In addition, there is the red belly black snake it would be a
painful death. It stops your blood from clotting, you will be suffocating on the ground
for five minutes, and then you are dead. There is also the sea snake with heaps of
different colours. It can be yellow and black, white and black and red and white. It is
deadly as it bites you and stops your lungs working, and if you are swimming, you
already have no air. You are as good as dead! Its bright colours means back off, I am
deadly!
Snakes can camouflage and curl up in a ball and set up traps for its prey. Snakes can
hide in a bush and race out and swallow its prey in one bite.
Have you ever wondered if snakes are faster than a spider? Well I am here to tell you
that snakes are faster than a spider. They are big! Their silky body can easily slide
quickly across the ground. You can easily see them coming your way but it is not that
easy to get out of the way.
Have you ever been thinking about whether snakes have more venom than spiders?
Well my opinion is yes. Some kinds of snakes can kill you within a minute. Snakes will
hibernate under dry leaves, so if you stand on a pile of brown leaves it is more likely
for a snake to jump at your feet.
I think there are plenty of reasons here to see that snakes are deadly, so be very
careful when you are outside and if you are not bad things can happen.
