He began his career at age 15. In the 2004 Olympic Games, he has gained national renown. In 2005 he improved his individual peak. His biggest career success was in the 2009 world championships in Rome: the 200-meter breaststroke at 2:07,64 was Europe's new world record. In December 2009 at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Istanbul, he gained 200 meters gold medal and his world record was 2:00.67. In 2010 March 15, in recognition of his outstanding career he received the Order og Merit of the Hungarian Republic.
