A fast yacht forshort handed sailing.

The design of the Omega 46 is the resultof many years of feedback from previous Omegaowners as well as other experienced long-distance sailors. Their views and suggestionshave created a platform from which the new

Omega 46 has been developed. This has createda design brief for a yacht with a classic timelesslines, relatively low freeboards, positive stern,low cabin profile, and a traditional sheerline andbow profile.Omega 46 is a yacht capable of crossing theocean and to live aboard for longer periods witha very high level of comfort.

All the stages in the production of theOmega 46 are equally important when it comesto quality, from the first sketches to the finished,moored yacht. One of the most importantaspects of quality is the design. The creativeand experienced designer Ron Holland is worldfamous for his work in designing sailboats from20 to 200 feet. He contributes with his extensiveknowledge earned from designing and sailingmany hundreds of racing and cruising yachts,as well as recent personal experience cruising inthe Pacific Ocean.The design team, together with the structuralexperts from High Modulus – acknowledged asthe leaders in marine composite constructionsystems - has all used the latest in computertechnology resulting in extreme accuracy andprecision.

Safety at sea is a combination of design,structural strength, proper installations, and

the best materials combined with productsand equipment from the most reputablesuppliers in the world.All this together with excellent stability andexceptional directional control makes theOmega 46 a safe and simple boat to sail. Thecrew can concentrate on their task instead ofworrying about the boat.

Constructing an Omega 46 to thedemanding specification requires a high levelof skill. That is why we have chosen to build theOmega 46 in the heart of the west coast ofSweden where boat building is a severalhundred years old tradition and where many ofthe finest composite production boats in theworld are built today.

Omega 46 is designed to be sailedby only one person with safety and comfortin all kinds of weather. The old saying : “Onehand for the boat and one hand for yourself”has been the very important during thedevelopment of this boat. The deck is clean andeasy to work. The helmsman reaches the

winches and can easily handle the mostimportant control like sheets, reefing and mainhalyard. One of the four winches is electricalpowered in order to assists with the heavytasks.

Most of the earlier Omegas models are famousfor their large cockpits. Omega 46 has ourlargest cockpit yet and it is possible to stretchout for a rest on the benches in front of thesteering wheel.

The Omega range has been promoted in allthe large sailing markets of the world with overa thousand yachts afloat today.

A large and clean aft deck area offers also anintegrated combination of stair gangway andswimming platform (optional feature)

The interior of the Omega 46 is a well-balanced mix of traditional yacht styling andinnovative thinking, presenting many effectiveand practical solutions..

Omega 46 - optional interior layouts:twin aft cabins or twin toilets. Standard interiorwith single aft cabin and single toilet is shownin this broschure.

The galley has beenarranged as a ”gourmetkitchen” with genereouswork surfaces.

The large toilet compartment ( over 90 cm width )is located next to the owners cabin and is easilyaccessible from both the saloon and fromowners cabin. Shower area is separated fromthe toilet.

Navigation compartment is located on starboard.Chart table and generous space for individualinstrumentation layout.

Ron Holland already in 1980 designed the Omega34 which was followed up by the Omega 3 0 and theOmega 3 6. Ron Hollan experience has been aguidline in the quality specification of the new Omega46. Omega 46 represent the skill in combining a wellbalanced and elegant yacht for short handed sailing.

The cockpit is large and ergonomic, thewinches located close to the wheel to be used forshorthanded sailing. Main halyard, sheets and thefirst reef will be handled from these winches withone of them powered. The most importantfunctions can be handled by one person and ondeck safety will be above average.

The interior will be generous and light with anatmosphere of comfort and dashes of luxury.

The Omega 46 presents a product with anew approach to the present production yachtmarket. In terms of beauty, performance and valuefor money, this is the yacht I personally wish toown.”

The design and tooling for the Omega 46utilised computer aided design and manufacturingsystems specifically aimed at achievingcompetitive pricing for this new, high quality craft.

This yacht had to be a delight to sail and Ihave created a hull lines plan that will be easilydriven in light winds yet be exceptionally capablein any rough water conditions.

The sail plan concept is based on my personalsailing experience, featuring a self tacking headsailthat is now a standard feature on all my designs.This follows high aspect ratio proportions thatensure optimum sailing performance with amoderate sail area to displacement ratio.

The design of the keel and rudder is an influenceon both sailing performance and the way the yachtwill comfortably handle at sea.

The Omega 46 satisfy the feeling of sailing a bigocean going yacht with exceptionally goodmanouverabillity and at the same time the expe-rience of easy boat handling with the need ofjust a few crew members

we are the first serie productionboatyard who has deveioped a balancedcomposite rudder incorporating a carbonfibrerudderstock. Normal weight of a rudder of thissize is more than 100 kg-this is about 20 kg !
