1950-60Se ha calculado una cúpula de dos millas de diámetro para cubrir el centro de la isla de Manhattan, que abarca desde el este al oeste, en

la calle 42 desde el río Hudson hasta el East River y del Sur al Norte desde la calle 22 hasta la 62. Deseando realizar un buen motor de

enfriamento de aire, lo diseñamos con múltiples aletas y espículas para expulsar el aire caliente. La cúpula tendría una superficie de 1/85

del área total de las envolvientes de los edificios que cubriría. Reduciría las pérdidas de energía tanto en la calefacción de invierno como de

enfriamento en verano hasta 1/85 del coste energético total, sin considerar la eliminación de la nieve que conllevaría. El ahorro energético

generado podria financiar la bóveda en 10 años.

Se trata de 11 semiesferas de 25 metros de diámetro y 12 metros de altura además de un par de túneles y u itinerario a ningún sitio. La

superficie ocupada en planta fue de 5000 m2. Los 10km de soldaduras se ejecutaron en 9 días de trabajo, por un único operario, quien sólo

necesitó tres ayudantes para mover el material

Heliotrón pretendía crear un ambiente imaginario alrededor de una pista de hielo. ... los patinadores podían encontrarse en el centro de un

río africano al lado de unas canoas impulsadas por cientos de remeros, o en el centro de una competición de motos o automóviles, o junto

a unas cigüeñas emigrando hacia el sur, o en medio de unos fuegos artificiales… Un grupo de esencias básicas podía ser distribuido pos

el sistema de tratamiento de aire de modo que añadía el olor correspondiente a la imagen del entorno del momento para contribuir a la

realidad del mismo.
