During this visit, Prime Minister Harper, along with his wife Laureen and several Canadian and Chinese cabinet ministers and senior officials, were greeted by close to 500 students all with the intention of graduating with their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and applying to universities across Canada. Also accompanying the Prime Minister were David Mulroney, Canadian Ambassador to China and the Canadian Consulate staff from Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chongqing. It takes a commitment for excellence from both Bond and its partner schools in China to create the type of Canadian school that the Prime Minister's staff would recommend for this visit. Certainly, that speaks highly of Robert McDonnell, Bond co-principal in the Ontario Program as well as Chen Feng, Huamei co-principal and their highly committed Canadian and Chinese staff at Huamei Bond. It also shows the commitment of Bond and Huamei senior staff and particularly Hugh McKeown, Director of International Programs and Xiong Jia, principal of our partner school, Huamei Foreign Language School. The Bond Education Group takes great pride in knowing that although he visited Beijing and Chongqing as well as Guangzhou and that he could have chosen other Canadian school programs in those cities, it was a Bond school that was featured in his visit. Dr. Ningyu Li, the President of the Bond Education Group, stated that it speaks highly of all our Bond Schools in the China program. Dr. Li and her staff have been told that the quality of the Bond Schools across China and the direction they are heading, was also a big factor in the selection of this school for the visit. "Our schools in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nanjing and Tianjin can be proud that they have all played a part in the recognition Bond received. Where we are in the middle of things, we always focus on ideas for improvement. As we move forward, we will continue to do that. For the moment, please be proud that both within the Bond organization and beyond, you are all being recognized for your efforts. The staff of the Bond Education Group are so proud of all that you have accomplished." This is quoted by Dr. Ningyu Li in her message to the staff of the Bond Education Group. As the president of Bond Education Group, Dr. Li expressed thanks to all of the staff in China and Canada for their hard work and contributions to the success of Bond Education Group. Dr. Li also looks forward to continuing the journey toward making Bond Schools International the flagship Canadian program in China and Bond International College the school of choice for secondary students wishing to study in Canada. October 4, 2011 was a beautiful sunny day in Toronto. As well, it was also a very successful day here at Bond, as all the students and teachers actively participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. Our students raised a total of $5,148.13 for this very worthy cause. A huge thanks to everyone who participated and especially to Mr. Rishor for his hard work.

On October 8, 2011, the Bond Academy elementary students helped deliver bags of food donated by our families for the annual food drive. Our thanks to the Fire department for bringing a Fire truck to the school to pickup the donations.

Bond Academy and Bond International College participated in the 66th annual Sears Drama Festival on February 23. This is a most prestigious event and schools throughout Toronto compete for recognition and praise for their efforts. Our student actors were superb without any formal training, just genuine hard work with great direction from the staff.

The Gr. 10 Bond Civics class held their annual Election on Monday Jan. 23rd. The election consisted of Tim Smith and his Commoners Party, Larven Nagendran and his Saints Party, Hussain Ali and his YMCMB Party and Hassan Ali's People's Party of Perfection. The election was a big success, with almost half of Bond's Secondary school students participating in the vote. In the end, Tim Smith's Commoners Party edged out Larven Nagendran's Saints Party by one vote. Congratulations to Tim's party on his win and to Larven, Hussain and Hassan's party for their strong showing.

This December Bond staff, teachers, students and parents sponsored 8 families by collecting food and gifts to support their specific needs. Once again, our thanks to our wonderful Bond families for their generosity of spirit and concern for those less fortunate. This has become a wonderful Bond tradition!

On November 23, 2011, our staff and families came together to celebrate our fall book fair and The Great Chili Cook-Off. Funds were raised for our library as staff competed to win the title of Bond's Best Chili. Diane Berry took first place, with Anita Chhabra and Becky Potts close behind. A great time was had by all and we're already looking forward to our next library event!

Happy Halloween! Bond Academy got into the "Spirit" of things with ghosts, witches and a variety of scary things parading around the school. Thanks to Mr. Poulin and his Grade 8 Class for the Haunted Room! Great job!!!

October 28, 2011 was a dress down day at Bond in support of Breast Cancer Research. Everyone was encouraged to wear pink. Students, parents and teachers helped bake a variety of treats to sell at the bake sale. Thanks to everyone for their efforts and especially to Ms. Chhaba and Ms. Thorburn for their hard work.

I'm Tim Smith, and I am the leader of the Commoners Party of Canada. Our Party is dedicated to promoting the common people and making them as powerful as the 1% that currently runs the country. Now that we are in power we are going to do this by having bi-weekly meetings where communities all throughout Canada give suggestions and vote on what Canada should do. We also believe recycling is imperative to a green economy. By recycling more plastic we will be spending less money on importing plastic and therefore our economy will get much better. We also are sympathetic to young and single mothers, and want to give them special privileges with daycares and primary schools. We also are going to give all voters more options, and we are not going to pass any law without a vote from the Canadian people. We also are going to make dental plans free. Now that I'm Prime Minister. I can make my policies law, and we can all feel like members of parliament. Let's run Canada.

On January 14, 2012, a group of the students from the Republic of Colombia waved good-bye to Canada and went to board their flight h o m e a t To r o n t o P e a r s o n International Airport after 4 weeks experience at Bond Winter ESL Camp. The average age was only 13 years old, and this was their first time traveling away from home by themselves. The four-week winter camp gave these children, brought up in tropical country, a precious opportunity to experience the snow world of Canada. During the Camp, the campers lived in local homes arranged by Bond Academy, and received warm care from them. Congratulations to Bond's U20 Boys Basketball team, which performed so wel l at the beginning of 2012. Especially in the games against Metro Prep on Feb 7 and MPS on Feb 14. Our team should be very proud of the way they handled their emotions against a very ta lented opponent. These games showed how far our program has come and how all athletes at Bond have learned that ef for t , fa i r p lay and sportsmanship provide the foundation of integrity for what we can achieve. Congratulations to all our starters, but especially to Harry, Riya, Tommy and Mirko all of w h o m m a d e s i g n i f i c a n t contributions off the bench.

Congratulations to Bond U16 Boys Basketball team who won their division at the Willow Wood invitational tournament on Feb 13, 2012. Thanks to all the boys for an incredible effort especially to Hareesh Vigneshwaran, who was tournament MVP. As well, special thanks to Chelsea Campbell. She was the only girl to be a starting player at the event.
