Greetings to you from the Navrachana Fraternity! !
We are a leading CBSE School situated in Vadodara, Gujarat. This being our Golden Jubilee year,
nothing would give us more pleasure than to play host to an event which most Schools of Gujarat
look forward to annually – yes, friends it's time for NAVFEST 2017, scheduled to be held on 10th &
11th November 2017 in Navrachana School, Sama. Thus it gives me great pleasure to invite your
School to participate in NAVFEST 2017 – 'The Bubbling Cauldron'. This event is completely student
driven and the brain child of our creative students of the Senior Section. NAVFEST is a series of
very enjoyable and challenging competitions that children will love to participate in. Our objective
is to bring young people together to learn, collaborate, network and showcase their talents on a
common platform. Please go through the festival brochure and register your children latest by 30th
September 2017.I hope to see many Schools of India participating in this unique Fest. I close with a
promise that every moment of the two days spent here will be enriching, rewarding and memorable.

About Navfest : As Malcolm Forbes rightly said "Diversity is the art of thinking independently together
as a whole." Welcome to Navfest 2017- 'The Bubbling Cauldron'. It is time to break the
shackles of the virtual world and meet together mind, body, heart and soul.
The objective is to bring together the youth across the country and beyond, to respect,
understand and embrace the diversity in cultures and to showcase the huge
pool of talent that is untapped in the youth of our nation.We strive to conduct
invigorating and exciting activities in the fields of visual and performing arts,
languages and sciences. Be a part of this series of challenging competitions and
romp home as champions. Let the Cauldron Bubble!

General Guidelines :A team will comprise of 8 participants, 4 from the Junior Category and 4 from the Senior Category,
accompanied by maximum 2 Teachers.
The Junior Category Participants must be from classes 5 to 8, and the Senior Category Participants must
be from classes 9 to 12.
Registration Fee per participant will be Rs. 1000/- There are no registration charges for the Team Leaders.
Registration Fee should be paid through a Demand Draft in favour of Navrachana School, Sama. Once registered, the team is obliged to participate.
The Country for the events shall be allotted once the team has registered via email.
The Host School will not provide Boarding and Lodging facilities as we are a Day School. The
participating teams are expected to make their own stay arrangements.
The Host School shall provide One Hot Snack + Coffee/Tea at 9 a.m. and Lunch every day.
The Junior Teams of the Host school shall participate but will not compete for the overall Championship.

Patrons of the Past
Speech / Soliloquy / Extract rendered by any famous historical
personality of the country allotted to the participating school.
For example, you may select Tagore or Nehru if you get India
as your country.
Attire as per the portrayal of the character.

Art Relay

RUBRICS: 1. Story depiction 10 points
2. Layout 10 points

5. Oral presentation of the story 10 points
The theme of this event is to illustrate a folk tale from the
allotted country.
Each participant gets 30 minutes to draw and paint.
The first participant will begin the depiction. After 30 minutes
the next participant will take over from the previous one and
continue the depiction of the folk tale, and so on.
A scroll which is made up of 3- A3 size sheets and paints will
be provided.
Each team is expected to carry their own basic art material like
paint brushes, pencils, erasers etc.
The team is finally expected to orally present the folk tale to the
jury members; time allotted will be 3 minutes.

Mystery Box

RUBRICS: 1. Clarity of concepts 10 points
2. Demonstration and explanation 10 points
3. Viva voce with jury 10 points
4. Number of scientific principles 10 points
Participants will be provided a box full of items of everyday use
which will remain a mystery till the time of the event.
Using the given items, participants are expected to prove several
scientific laws/phenomena.
Participants will then demonstrate and explain experiments
using the given items in front of the jury.
Participants’ knowledge and understanding of basic concepts
of science & scientific principles will be tested.
The team that aptly demonstrates & explains the maximum
number of concepts/laws shall be adjudged the Winner.

TOURISM COUNTER

A team of 2 participants wearing formal attire of the allotted
country.
The aim of the team must be to promote and highlight the
tourist attractions of the allotted country.
All artefacts, posters etc. are to be brought by the team for
display and decor of the space.
The team must come with self created and handmade
brochures/leaflets /location maps etc.
No ready-made Government Tourism brochures are allowed.
A space of approximately 6ft X 6ft with tables, chairs and a
white backdrop will be provided.

MATERIAL REQUIRED : personal laptops, mobile phones or any
electronic gadgets for research on the topic.
Format- Group Discussion .
Participants shall represent the allotted country.
The agenda of discussion shall be provided at the
time of registration.
Each participant shall be allowed a 1 minute opening
statement in the first round after which the house
would be open for discussion.
12 finalist shall make it to the final round.
The Final Round would have a fresh Agenda.

Rubrics: Total - 40 points
1. Business Plan- 20 points
* Business Model-10 points
How strong is the execution of the plan of the company, i.e the 4P's:
Product, Price, Promotion and Place and how can the company earn
money? If it's a nonprofit or a social enterprise, can there be a viable
solution to make an impact on the community?
* Market Analysis- 10 points
Is the analysis complete? Has a competitive analysis done? Are the
assumptions valid?
2. Presentation-20 points
* Concept- 10 points
How strong is the value proposition? Is the idea providing an innovative
solution to a real world problem? How well does it depict the country's
origin ?
* Financial Analysis- 10 points
Are the financial projections reasonable?
Pitch Perfect aims at testing the business acumen and economic
knowledge of the participants.
Participants are expected to design an innovative product or bring
about a change in an existing one that depicts the origin of the
allotted country within the given budget that is INR 1,000.
The event has been divided into two rounds- the preliminary round
and final round.
Preliminary round: A CD containing PPT/ multimedia with audio
narration to promote your selected product shall be submitted at the
time of registration.
The time limit of the PPT is 2 minutes with 10 slides only.
Final round: 12 best propositions shall qualify for the Final
Round. In the final round, the teams are expected to introduce their
product and present their proposal in front of the potential investors
within a time limit of 5 minutes with a PPT of not more than 10 slides.
This PPT will not have audio/ narration.
The potential investors will act in the capacity of the jury.
The judgement will be based on the team's presentation and ability
to answer the questions posed by the jury.

Rubrics : 1. Creativity in choreography 10 points

4. Overall presentation 10 points
Note: There are no limitations on the number of props. The teams can
dress up as per the allotted country and are expected to bring recorded
music for their performance in MP3 format.
A team comprising of 6-8 participants will
perform a dance representing the allotted
country.
The presentation could be a traditional
dance or the representation of a historical
event that shaped the country's history .
Time allotted - 5 minutes .
A CD of the music piece in Mp3 format must be
submitted at the time of registration.
