Stallion News
SSCMS family,
We have had a great week! I want to thank the testing team, teachers, and
student for their focus during the state’s first administration of Milestones
testing. As we move into the month of May, it is imperative that all parents
have emailed or met with teachers as semester grade approaches. If you
receive a Maymester letter, this indicates if your student needs to stay after
school for three weeks to support getting to mastery.
Over the summer, our construction project will have major impact to school
access. We are preparing to have the 21 classes added, and we are excited to
witness the daily progress. Please note that administrative staff will be here
in the front office to register students and answer questions. Additional
information about summer hours and parent support will be distributed next
week.
Learning is collaborative, and we need you!

School Governance Councils
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is time for the election of new members to the School Governance Councils at Cohort 2 schools.
Each Cohort 2 School Governance Council (SGC) has one parent/guardian position open for
election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending a Cohort 2 school during both the
2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian position on
the SGC.
School Governance Councils (SGC) play a critical role in the success of the school. The SGC
works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the
school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school
ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, SGCs have the following powers:
Approve the school strategic plan and updates
Manage the Request for Flexibility process
Manage Seed Fund requests
Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
Current SGCs have been an invaluable resource. They have proposed new and creative
approaches to meet the needs of students at their schools and have been instrumental in securing
approximately $8.7 million of Seed Fund money, over the last two years, to support those new
approaches.
If you are interested in running for a position on the SGC, please click on the link below to complete
and submit a Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form by 5:00 pm on April 28, 2015.
School Governance Council Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form
We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGCs. We hope that you will consider
running for a position and voting in the SGC elections in May. In the meantime, to get more
information about the charter system or SGC elections visit the district charter system website
at http://www.fultonschools.org/en/about/charter.

Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey is also modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents will be able to complete the
survey using their personal computers, smartphones or iPads. For parents that do not have access to the Internet, school administrators
might consider scheduling dates and times to allow parents to complete the Georgia Parent Survey at school. All parents should be
encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating.
However, there is no mandatory participation rate for parents. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the
Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not
be posted online. The URL address for the Georgia Parent Survey is posted below.

THE FIRST IMPRESSION I WANT TO MAKE
Have you ever asked yourself the kind of first impression you give to others? Are first impresions even important to you? Too a lot of people, first impressions are very, very important. Rather you’re at school, at the mall, spending time with family or making new friends, first impressions reveal a lot about a person. Therefore, it is imperative that others perception of you match the image and character you truly want to display. Here is a little exercise to help you determine your best traits. On the list below, circle four words that describe how you would like to be thought of when you meet another person for the first time. Once you’ve identified your four words, work towards matching your behavior to those words so your perception, how people view you, is really and truly what you want them to see. Have A Great Day.
