If you ask an educated member of these groups if the object of worship is God, they will say no, it is just a symbol / reminder of Him that helps us remember /worship Him better.
Know that this is EXACTLY the same answer the idolators of Makkah used to give to the Prophet Muhammad SAW when he asked them about their idols.
Surely pure religion is for Allah only. And those who choose protecting friends beside Him (say): We worship them only that they may bring us near unto Allah. Lo! Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Lo! Allah guideth not him who is a liar, an ingrate. (Az-Zumar 39:3)
NOW
Worship Allah alone
