Once Orphaned, Now Married Serving
the Lord in Unreached Places with Her
Missionary Husband Once an orphan, Usha was blessed by the Lord in marrying missionary
Marak. Usha, a fragile girl was born on May 16, 1994 to a couple who
suffered from leprosy and who lived in a leprosy settlement in the outskirts
New Delhi. Usha became an orphan at a young age when her parents
passed away from the horrible disease and after that her life became
extremely sad. She had no relatives. She had nobody who would take
care of her. Over time without proper medical care, she developed
breathing problems and her lungs became very weak.
With the Lord’s blessing, Harvest Mission to the Unreached started an
orphanage to bring God’s love to these type of children. HMU missionary
Shaji routinely visits the leprosy settlement to preach the Gospel. Through
his visits, he came to
know Usha and he had
compassion on her. In
1999, he had her admitted to the HMU orphanage.
Usha has since received a good education and all of her needs
have continually been met as she grew up from a unhealthy child
to a young vibrant adult. She never felt alone or unique in the
orphanage because she knew there were others like her and her
siblings that were going through the same thing. She felt the love
of the care takers everyday while at the orphanage. The local
church also extended a warm fellowship to the children as well.
Because of the love and spiritual nurturing at the Harvest Mission
Orphanage, Usha excelled in Sunday school and received Jesus
as her personal Saviour. In the year 2011, she witnessed the
Lord in water baptism. Once she became 18 years old, she was
put into a rehabilitation center per the government rule because
the orphanage didn’t have a facility to keep older children. Usha
learned cooking and stitching arts in school, but she had a great
desire to go for Bible training. Thus, she was admitted to a Bible
college close to the eastern border of India, where she completed
and graduated from a three year Bible course.

WIN
Her life continued to be blessed when, on
August 23, 2016, God joined her in marriage
with Jullibirth Marak. Her husband is a
dedicated young missionary from Meghalaya
who is also a bible school graduate. They
are now in the process of moving to a
mission field to serve the Lord as a family.
The place they will be living at is prone to
earthquakes. There humble home will be
made of wood and tin sheets. That’s not
sufficient enough to resist the severe winter
weather in that hilly region. They will need
continued prayers as well as financial
support to survive there and to prosper in
the ministry.

Storey of Sam Jebaraj
A Hindu ‘Naga
Baba” (Naked
Hindu Holy Man)
Turned to Pastor Jebaraj was born in 1948 in Tamil Nadu which is a
southern Indian state which had just won it’s freedom
from British rule during that time period. However,
Jebaraj was born into a Hindu family which was not free
from the clutches of sin. From an early age, he began
his quest of discovering the truth of life and salvation
(moksha). He worshipped all the known false Hindu
gods and goddesses. He performed all sorts of satanic
rituals to appease these demonic entities. He went from temple to temple and shrine to shrine. He wandered all
over the country barefooted in his lost religious pursuit for peace and contentment. Over time, he became a Naga
Baba which is a naked holy man with a higher passionate level for seeking god. He grew a long scraggly beard.
He lost his drive to take care of himself like eating and drinking. Peace was never found nor did he ever met a
woman he could love and marry.
One day while he was sitting on a street a young girl came up to him and handed him a Gospel track of Mathew
11:28. The seed of the Gospel quickly took root opening his eyes to the truth he never could find in his false
religion. The Lord then led him to a Christian brother who in turn invested much time and effort in teaching him the
bible. Jebaraj accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his saviour and he was baptized by water.
The Lord stirred a strong passion in him to win the souls of men for his King. He served the Lord faithfully for 10
years in the state of Bihar. The Lord then had him move to Uttar Pradesh where he joined our team at Harvest
Mission to the Unreached. He began is HMU ministry by starting a Sunday worship service at a school which
ironically was managed by Hindus in the Khoda Colony in the Ghaziabad district. As his success grew, he was
forced to leave this location by the management because they were annoyed and upset with seeing other Hindus
attending the worship service.
Recently, he performed a water baptism ceremony for eleven people. Eight of these were from the high Hindu
Brahmin community. God has given him the gift of healing. Many people are coming to his church for prayer and
healing. Even though his Hindi language is not perfect, God uses him mightily for His purpose. Jebaraj has
reached the age of 70 now and his only concern is for the limited time left to serve God. His church congregation
ranges from 60-70 believers all of whom are from the Hindu back ground. There is still great opposition in the area
where this church is located to the teaching of the Gospel. Praise God for the life of Pastor Sam Jebaraj and his
steadfastness.
NEW FREE TAILORING CLASSES NOW BEING
OFFERED IN THE KHODA COLONY Missionary Jebaraj has increased his outreach to the community by now offering tailoring classes. Many of the
people in this area live in “match box” type houses. The cosmopolitan city of New Delhi is not very far from here.
There are increasing job opportunities for unskilled laborers in the smaller communities that surround this city.
HMU conducted a survey and found out that most of the married women in the area do not work and sole support
for the families is through their husbands. It was an answer to our prayers that one of the members in Pastor
Jebaraj’s church wanted to start a tailoring ministry. She also had come to know the Lord when she was being
taught by another Christian based tailoring ministry in another city. Her name is Hema Latha and she is an
experienced tailoring instructor.
The official launch of the new tailoring ministry was on September 13. Cherian Oommen, the coordinator of
Harvest Mission in India and Nepal, along with Pastors Henry Sebastian and A.K. Wilson went to Pastor Jebaraj’s
church to assist in the initial launch of this wonderful new ministry. Sister Hema Latha is looking forward to seeing
where the Lord takes her and this ministry in service to Him. We truly believe the Gospel is going to reach so
many new homes that would have otherwise might not have ever been reached.
