DMS Automation Engine is a DataMiner

software application which allows

operators to create automation scripts,

hence automating operational and busi-

ness procedures, drastically reducing

operational expenses. Scripts can be

designed with an intuitive graphical

user interface in the DataMiner web

interface, which provides extensive

capabilities, virtually covering any

action that an operator would execute

manually and much more.

Automation scripts can be created for

a wide variety of applications including

controlled back-up routines, automatic

configuration, channel selection, report

generation, notification via e-mail and

SMS, and much more.

The ability to nest scripts provides the

means to build extensive script libraries

and to implement efficient maintenance

of those scripts. Once scripts are

created, they are accessible for the

operator throughout the different

user interfaces, significantly enhancing

the user efficiency and assuring that

corporate procedures are adhered to.

Scripts can be scheduled via a calendar

GUI, allowing single or repeated

DMS-DB’s are accessible via a platform

used from engineering up to top level

understand how their systems behaved

in user-defined time-spans.

Through DMS Report Creator operators

have a plethora of statistics and opera-

tional metrics available, allowing them

to pinpoint the weakest points in their

system, and to make well-founded in-

vestment decisions.

DMS Report Creator comes as an out-

of-the-box web based environment of-

fering statistics based on active alarms,

historical alarms, trend data, real-time

data, etc. With a single click of the

button operators can get an overview

of the top-ten devices generating the

majority of alarm messages, detailed

information about the duration of

alarm events, distribution of alarms

across time, etc.

In addition DMS Report Creator pro-

vides also the means to take any of the

avail-able statistical graphs and to pub-

lish those in any existing thirdparty web

environment. This allows operators to

publish targeted network management

information for example on intranet web

pages (e.g. customer support, back-of-

fice, etc.), without the need to provide

those users with access to the actual

network management environment.

DMS Report Creator features also a

Report Template Builder, which is

an intuitive graphical user interface-

allowing operators to create report

templates containing any combination

of the available statistics. These tem-

plates can then be used to send com-

prehensive graphical e-mail reports, i.e.

push reports to users as well within the

corporation of the operator as outside

the corporation (e.g. to customers,

subcontractors, suppliers, etc.). These

e-mail reports can be triggered by

various DataMiner applications. Via the

scheduler interface e-mail reports can

be send out at scheduled points in time,

such as weekly or monthly overview re-

ports. But also the correlation engine,

after detecting a user-defined pattern in

The real-time spectrum analysis UI is

uniform across any spectrum analyzer

from any vendor, and offers a plethora

of features for the operator. Presets

can be managed on-line in the system,

and shared between different users

and user groups. The UI is highly intui-

tive and features for example on-screen

controls for an enhanced user experience.

Other functions include max hold, min

hold, averaging, freeze display, copy to

clipboard, printing, drag & drop markers,

marker tracing, undo functions, trace re-

cording & replaying, waterfall spectrums,

frequency masks, etc.

But DMS Spectrum Analysis offers

namely around-the-clock performance

DMS Mobile Gateway is a valuable and

innovative plug-in for the DataMiner

System, which links the network man-

agement system environment with the

world of cellular phones, pagers via text

messaging and the latest generation of

devices such as PDAs and smart phones

via mobile web GUI.

With DMS Mobile Gateway you can

automatically forward SMS text

messages to cellular phones (or alter-

natively to pagers), to notify different

individuals of relevant events in your

operational systems.

However, DMS Mobile Gateway takes

the experience beyond the tradition-

al notifications, supporting two-way

communications with cellular phones

via SMS text messages. Registered

users, such as field engineers, can send

text messages to the network manage-

ment system, querying the value of any

parameter on any device managed by

the DataMiner System. Upon receiving

such request, the DataMiner System

will promptly return a text message

confirming the current value of the

requested parameter. By sending a SMS

text message with a registered cellu-

lar phone, users can also control any

setting on any device managed by the

phones and PDAs, DMS Mobile Gateway

ment Manager (DMS-CPE) is a profes-
