2017 Here We Come! Children’s ministry goals for 2017: 1) For each child to have a personal relationship with Jesus

knowing Him as Savior, leader, and friend for life. 2) For children to be visibly growing in their relationship with

Christ as seen through the decisions they make at home, school, and play.

3) For parents to be equipped to lead their children Spiritually as identified through parent initiated home Bible studies and parent-child baptisms.

Fun Fact: the oldest man in

throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like

God - truly righteous and holy. Ephesians 4:22-24

Community Christian Church, Bethel OH

Every year about this time many of us believers have a thought something like this - I would like to read the Bible all the way through this coming year. It’s a wonderful thought, a good thought. However, for many it is never a reality. We think about our Bible reading plan, we talk about it, we may even attempt to make our thought a reality, but a few weeks or a few months into the new year and we have given up and worse yet, we feel guilty!

Every year about this time many of us believers have a thought something like this - I would really like to drop 20 or 25 pounds this coming year. It is a wonderful thought, a good thought. However, for many it is never a reality. We think about losing weight, we talk about it, we may even attempt to eat healthy and count those calories, but a few weeks or a few months into the new year and we have given up and worse yet, we feel guilty!

Every year about this time many of us believers have a thought something like this – I really would like to spend more time with my spouse and the kids. It’s a wonderful thought, a good thought. However, for many it is never a reality. We think that thought, we talk about it, we may even attempt to make our thought a reality by changing our work and family schedules. However, a few weeks or a few months into the new year and we have given up and worse yet, we feel guilty!

I have laid out three different areas of life for you, [no, it’s not a cut and paste mistake]. I could have mentioned a number of different areas that we think about this time every year, like restoring relationships with family or friends or getting our finances in good order to rid ourselves of debt as well as saving for retirement. Life is short - “3 score [60 years] & 10” according to the psalmist. So we don’t have a lot of time to figure these things out and for many of us guilt is a real thing eating away at us every day. So let’s jump forward to December 29, 2017 – will you still be thinking of trying to read the Bible through just once in your lifetime? Will you have dropped that weight and will your family relationships be on the plus side? Don’t live with guilt. Do what you know to be good for you and your family.

Will we succeed in every one of these areas? Probably not, but if we are making progress in one or two of the areas we will be a lot farther down the road than we are now and we will be encouraged by the results in one or two areas to tackle a third one in the new year ahead. Go for it, stretch yourself and ask the Lord to walk with you while you learn how to take control of your life.

Many thanks to all of you who supplied the Asche household with lots of cards, cookies, candies and many fond Christmas greetings this Christmas season. We are blessed to serve Christ with you.

Also, our Christmas offering is $6,482. Thank you. We will continue to receive those gifts through January, either through our regular offering or through Givelify.
