3

SUMMARY

You can use "OneDrive" cloud

storage in an "Android" cell

phone or tablet.

4

TOPICS

• A Live Demonstration of

"OneDrive" Cloud Storage In An

Android-x86" Virtual Machine

• Accessing "OneDrive" Cloud

Storage From "Android"

5

TOPICS (continued)

• Inside an Android cell phone or table,

you can install the free "WPS Office"

app or the free "Polaris Office" app for

viewing files that you have stored at the

"OneDrive" server farm.

When we tried to edit files that were

stored on "OneDrive" with these two

apps, the revised files did not upload

back to the "OneDrive" server farm.

6

TOPICS (continued)

• Inside an Android cell phone or

table, you can probably install the

Microsoft's free "Office Mobile" app

for creating, viewing, and editing

files that you have stored at the

"OneDrive" server farm. However,

we have been unable to get "Office

Mobile" to install into any actual

Android cell phones or tablets.

Accessing "OneDrive"

from "Android":

9

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Two ways in "Android" to view

data and photo files that you

have stored at the "OneDrive"

server farm:

Method 1: Use a "Web Browser"

and

Method 2: Use Microsoft's

"OneDrive for Android" app

10

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Method 1: (Use "Browser")

Advantage: Can view files that

are stored up at the "OneDrive"

server farm, using Microsoft's

free Web-based "Office Online".

Disadvantage: Cannot edit files

using Microsoft's free Web-

based "Office Online".

11

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Method 1: (Use "Browser")

(continued)

Disadvantage:Cannot view or edit

files using the free "Polaris Office" or

the free "WPS Office" (formerly

known as "Kingsoft Office).

12

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Method 2: (Use "OneDrive for Android"

app)

Advantage: If you install the free

"Polaris Office" or "WPS Office"

(formerly called "Kingsoft Office"), you

can view files that are stored up at the

"OneDrive" server farm.

13

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Method 2: (Use "OneDrive for Android"

app) (continued) Disadvantage:

Once you edit files with "Polaris Office"

or "WPS Office", they stay down inside

the "Android" device in cache and are

not uploaded back to "OneDrive".

14

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Method 2: (Use "OneDrive for

Android" app) (continued)

Disadvantage:

Cannot run the free Web-based

"Office Online" to view or edit files

that are stored at the server farm.

15

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• In summary: When you use

"Polaris Office" or "WPS Office"

"OneDrive for Android" fails to

upload the edited file back up to the

"OneDrive" server farm so it is only

useful for viewing files that are

stored up at the "OneDrive" server

farm.

16

Accessing "OneDrive" From "Android"

(continued)

• Microsoft's free "Office Mobile" is

supposed to remedy this problem

but we have not been able to get it

installed in any cell phones or

tablets.
