Client: Canadian Oil and Gas MajorLocation: Ontario, CanadaBudget: $3.4 Million Challenge: To develop conceptual engineering designs to improve safety, productivity and reduce cross-contamination and waste on an inline blender for lube oil products.

Solution: The expansion incorporated a continuous high pressure fat splitting process, a glycerin ion exchange purication and a new hydrogenation reactor. Oneira supported the project from concept to commissioning and developed all aspects of the expansion design. Result: The new facility signicantly improved plant eciency and increased capacity to manufacture fatty acids and glycerol to meet global demand.

Description: Henkels plant is truly state-of-the-art, producing consistently high quality fatty chemicals from natural fats and oils. This project included the installation of new unit processes in three areas:
Fat and Oil Splitting: A new, continuous high pressure (500 psig) splitter was custom fabricated and installed within the existing production area. The process technology was developed by Henkel and is regarded as the latest and most ecient in the industry.
Glycerine Purication: Ion exchange purication and concentration.
Hydrogenation: The installation of a new hydrogenation reactor.
Oneiras task force approach assured Henkel that the same qualied personnel were on the project from preliminary design through commissioning an essential commitment for cost-eectiveness and operation success.
