Getting One Solution on your computer

Welcome to ONESolution. ONESolution is the next step in enterprise resource system development

for Dakota County. This brief manual provides employees with the information necessary to begin

working in ONESolution.

One Solution is not a web-based product. The ONESolution suite will be installed on County

computers as part of a systematic rollout and launch. Once it is loaded your first task is to log in and

explore the basic navigation that will help you to quickly become proficient with the tool. This manual

will guide you in how to get started using ONESolution for basic searches, task completion and

general navigation.

The Logon Screen

To log onto ONESolution - type your domain and Dakota County User ID on the first line and your

current password on the second line. Your password is the same as you used to log onto the

County’s computer system. See example below:

User Name: core\ XZYR5

Password: XXXXXXXXXXX (Whatever your current County password is…)

The Search Box can be used to find something quickly if you know the name of the mask, report or

job name, or the descriptive name of the item you are trying to find (subject to your security level

access). As you type in the name of the item you are looking for, you will see a screen pop up with

items that are matched to what you are typing.

For example, if you want to navigate to the Purchase Request mask (POUPPR), you can type

in Purchase Request and see this:

Or, type in POUPP and see this:

Click on the link and it will take you to the POUPPR mask.

If you don’t see the mask or report you are looking for, it may mean that your security is not set up as

expected. Contact the help desk if you feel you should have access to a mask or report that is not

presented in the listing.

This area records your recent activities. The most recent mask, report or job you run will appear at

the top of the list. In keeping with our Purchase Request example, after you click on the link to the

mask, the Purchase Request link will now appear at the top of your recent Items list.

When you need to go back to this mask, you can now click on the link in Recent Items and

ONESolution will take you right to the mask. This is the same for any reports and jobs that you run.

If you want to keep an item from rolling off the list, you can “Pin It” by placing a check mark in the

box to the left of the item and it will stay on the recent Items list for you. (See below)

To delete an item from the list, click on the blue next to the item you would like removed.

You can click on the green in the bottom left hand corner of the dashboard to see all of the modules in

the Finance Navigation Points pop-up menu (based on your security profile). From here, you can select a

link. “Greyed” out links are either not licensed here at Dakota County or you do not have the security to go

into that module. “Greyed” out links may be available but will require changes to security for you to access

them. (See images below.)

This area (at the top of your Dashboard) will show you what windows, or masks, you have open at

any given time. When you first logon, it will look like this:

After you open up a mask, in this example - POUPPR, it will look like this:

If you open up a second, mask, such as - POUPPP, it would then look like this:

If you have more than one window open and you are at the dashboard screen, you can navigate to

one of the open windows by simply clicking on that window (icon) in the Open Windows area. There

is no limit to the number of windows you may have open at any one time.

You can also hover over the in the Windows Task Bar, at the bottom of your screen, and select

the window you want.

-The Pending Task List is where you will find items waiting for your approval.

-The Jobs List is where you can monitor jobs/reports that you have submitted.

If you want to see workflow group tasks, you’ll need to turn on Group Tasks. (See below)

Note: With Group Tasks turned on; it takes a while to process the pending task list. The system

looks through “out of office”, workflow users, and pending tasks from Finance and Common. When it

starts looking for these items, the “Retrieving tasks” icon displays. That icon goes away when the

page is finally processed.

Here’s an example of what the Pending Task List looks like with tasks waiting for approval:

The “Action” column on the right is where you approve or reject a task. Dakota County will not

be using the delegate option.

Note: The Pending Tasks and Jobs lists can be sorted by the column headings.

To refresh either list, click on the refresh button in the upper left.
