Opening a CalculationWhen you create a dataset and have calculations for each of the entities, the next step is tocomplete the calculations. A calculation is like a Microsoft Excel workbook that containsworksheets (or, in this case, sheets).

A calculation can be opened using any of the following methods:

l In the Calculation Management tab, click the Calculation Name hyperlink.

l Right-click on a row in the Calculation Management tab and select Open Calculation.

l Select the check boxes next to two or more calculations and select Open from the Actionsdrop-down list.

NOTE: Only the calculations with the most up-to-date templates versions are opened. If a calculation isnot associated with an entity, it is not opened with the others.

l In the Navigation pane, click on a calculation name under Recently Visited Calculations.

l In the Calculation List tab, highlight to select an item in the grid and click Open in theRibbon toolbar, or right-click and select Open.

When you open a calculation, ONESOURCE Corporate Tax remembers the last cell you visited andautomatically returns to that cell.

Current UserIf you open a calculation that is being edited by another user, you are shown a warning and willhave read-only access to the calculation. Click on the Users icon in the quick-access toolbar to seewho else is currently viewing the same calculation.

You can also add the Current User column to the grid. Right-click on a column header and selectthe check box next to Current User.

If the calculation is already open, the user's name appears in the column. Other users can open thesame calculation in Read Only mode while it is open in Edit mode.

Available FunctionsIn an open calculation, you can use the Ribbon toolbar or quick-access toolbar.

To hide the Ribbon toolbar and use the quick-access toolbar, click the arrow to the left of the sheetname. Click it again to restore the Ribbon toolbar.

An open calculation offers the following functions in both toolbars, unless otherwise noted.

Save Apply changes to the open calculation.

Save as aCalculation(Ribbon toolbaronly)

Create an identical calculation for one or more entitiesin the same dataset that do not already have acalculation.

Save as aVersion (Ribbontoolbar only)

Opens the Save as a New Version dialog box. TheVersion field is automatically populated, but you canadd comments.

Date Entry,Review, In UseOnly modes

Select Data Entry to display all rows (including blankrows) in sheets for data entry. Also displays all sheetsin the Navigation pane including blank sheets.

Select Review to display sheets with data for reviewpurposes.

Select In Use Only to review calculations. Only rowsand sheets that contain data are displayed. Theselected mode is saved when a user logs out and logsin again.

Turn on Sortand Subtotals

Errors icon Open the Error Log tab for the current calculation.

Move the cursor to the next or previous cell containingan error.

Overriddenvalues

Show all cells with overridden values.

Find

Customising the Navigation PaneFrom an open calculation, click Display Options at the top of the Navigation pane to specify whatis shown alongside sheet names.

Display Options offers the following functions.

Function Details

Attachments A paperclip icon indicates that a document is attached to the sheet.

Hide/Display Select or clear the check box next to each sheet name to display or hide it in theNavigation pane.

Reference Displays the sheet reference in curly brackets.

Status Displays the sheet status in curly brackets.

Notes A Notes icon indicates that a note was added to a sheet or calculation.

Customising SheetsStandard templates provided by Thomson Reuters have a default set of sheets grouped in aparticular order in the Navigation pane.

ONESOURCE Corporate Tax lets you customise sheets and calculations to suit your needs andinternal processes. If you want to apply common customisations to multiple calculations, create aclient template and use it to create your calculations.

You can customise your calculations in any of the following ways:

l Rename sheets and references

l Rename folders

l Re-order sheets and folders

l Hide sheets

l Insert sheets

l Delete sheets

l Insert Excel sheets

Renaming Sheets and ReferencesTo change the sheet name and reference:

1. In the Navigation pane, right-click on a sheet name and select Properties.

2. In the Properties dialog box, enter a unique name and reference. A name cannot exceed100 characters, and a reference cannot exceed five characters.

3. Click OK.

Renaming a FolderTo change the name of a folder:

1. In the Navigation pane, right-click on a folder name and select Properties.

2. In the Properties dialog box, enter a unique name. A name cannot exceed 100 characters.

Re-ordering Sheets and FoldersTo re-order the Navigation pane, drag-and-drop a sheet or folder to a new location. Sheets canbe moved up, down, between folders, and under other sheets.

Hiding and Displaying SheetsStandard templates provided by Thomson Reuters may contain sheets that you do not need. Theycan be hidden from the Navigation pane to tidy up the list of sheets. Data in hidden sheets isincluded in the overall calculation if other sheets reference cells on the hidden sheets.

To hide or display sheets:

1. In the Navigation pane, click Display Options and select the check box next toHide/Display.

2. Click Display Options again to close the drop-down list.

3. In the Navigation pane, select the check box next to sheets you want to display. Clear thecheck box next to sheets you want to hide.

4. Click Display Options and clear the check box next to Hide/Display to remove the checkboxes from the Navigation pane.

5. Click Display Options again to close the drop-down list.

NOTE: Administrators can create a user group and assign permissions to restrict access to theHide/Display feature in Display Options, which also removes Hide Sheets in the right-click menu.

Inserting Standard SheetsThomson Reuters content developers provide context-sensitive sheets that you can insert incalculations. A standard sheet can be added to a lead statement, backup sheet, or a previouslyinserted standard sheet, depending on the options made available by the content developers.

To insert a sheet from an open, editable calculation:

1. Open the calculation and click on a sheet name in the Navigation pane to open the sheet.

2. Right-click on a cell in the sheet and select Insert Sheet. These selections are specific to thecurrent row.

You can also click Insert Sheets in the Ribbon toolbar for a selection of generic sheets thatare inserted under the proper folder.

Links to and from sheets – and dependencies between sheets – are also added. Links toother sheets may be related to control totals (shown below), and audit trail sheets for taxreturn disclosure purposes.

Inserting Sheetsin Multiple CalculationsYou can insert the same sheets into multiple calculations if the calculations are based on the sametemplate. These same steps are used to insert sheets into a single calculation without opening it.

1. In the Calculations module, select the check box next to one or more calculations andchoose Insert Sheets from the Actions drop-down list.

2. In the Insert Sheets dialog box, select the sheets you want to insert and click OK.

Creating Line ItemsTo create line items for your calculations:

1. Click Setup > Line Items.

2. In the Line Items tab, choose a template from the drop-down list. Sheet and Category arefiltered based on the template you choose.

3. Click Save in the Ribbon toolbar. New line items are displayed at the top of the list.

Inserting line items in a sheetTo insert line items in a sheet:

1. In an open calculation, click Insert Lines in the Ribbon toolbar (or right-click and selectInsert Line Items).

2. In the Insert Line Items dialog box, make your choices in the drop-down lists, select thecheck boxes next to the lines you want to insert and click OK. Lines that already exist in thesheet do not appear in the Insert Line Items dialog box; however, hidden rows (ifapplicable) do appear in the dialog box.

3. Click Refresh in the Ribbon toolbar or click Save.

Inserting Tax FormsOptional tax forms and schedules can be added from the Preliminary Information sheet.

1. In the Navigation pane, open the Preliminary Information {PI} sheet.

2. Right-click on an editable cell, click Insert Sheet and select the form you want to insert.

3. Your selection is added as a new sheet in the appropriate folder (and in some cases a newfolder is added) in the Navigation pane and is identified by a blue sheet icon. Your selectionautomatically opens in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax.

Inserting Excel SheetsA single Microsoft Excel sheet or an entire workbook can be inserted into a calculation as the basisfor a customised sheet. A calculation must have an editable status in order to insert Excel sheets.

1. Right-click on a sheet in the Navigation pane (or on a cell in an open sheet) and selectInsert Excel Sheet.

2. Navigate to the desired Excel file and click Open.

3. In the Insert Excel Sheets dialog box, all sheets in the file are selected by default. Clear thecheck boxes next to the sheets you do not want to insert.

4. By default, Sheet Name is the same as Excel Worksheet Name. Double-click on SheetName and Sheet Reference to modify them in this dialog box.

5. If necessary, select the check box next to Roll Forward Selected Sheets to Next Period.

6. Click OK. The sheet is added as a child of the selected sheet in the Navigation pane. It isidentified by a Microsoft Excel icon and its reference number begins with XL (XL01, XL02,XL03) unless you modified this prior to inserting it.

After inserting the Excel sheet, it should look and behave the same as it does in Excel, with someexceptions:

l Formatted borders in Excel do not display in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax.

l Not all Excel functions are supported in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax.

l If you insert an Excel file containing unsupported formulae, you see the following error:

The sheets are inserted and the cells containing unsupported formulae are identified as follows.You can modify the formulae in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax as required.

Exchange RatesONESOURCE Corporate Tax supports multiple currencies and currency conversion. It can be set atthe sheet, column or cell level. Cells in inserted Microsoft Excel sheets default to currency cells asspecified in the Exchange Rates dialog box. To help avoid currency errors in multiplication ordivision formulae, cells can be set as currency or non-currency cells.

To set the currency of a sheet, column or cell, choose a currency from the drop-down list in theExchange Rate Settings dialog box.

l Default: The cell adopts the currency of the calculation template. All calculations involvingthis cell treat the value of the cell as a currency amount. This may result in currency errors ascurrency values cannot be multiplied or divided by other currency values.

l None: The value in the cell is treated as a scalar value in all calculations. Another currencyvalue can be multiplied or divided by a scalar value.

Setting an Exchange RateTo set an exchange rate for a calculation:

1. Click Exchange Rates in the Ribbon toolbar.

Or, from the Exchange Rate Settings dialog box, click Currency Settings.

2. In the Exchange Rates dialog box, make your choice from the Set Functional Currencydrop-down list.

3. Then type an exchange rate type (for example, AUD2GBP for Australian dollar to Britishpound) and click Add.

4. In the Exchange Rates dialog box, choose the exchange rate type, then specify the FromCurrency and To Currency.

5. Click OK.

When an exchange rate is applied, sheets for a single entity display currency amounts as they arespecified in the template, and amounts in a group are displayed with the applied exchange rate.

NOTE: Roll Forward carries the exchange rates to the destination calculation. Prior period linkingdoes not carry forward exchange rates.

Deleting an Exchange RateTo delete an exchange rate (except for template-driven rate types), click the red X at the end ofthe row.

Deleting SheetsInserted sheets and Microsoft Excel sheets can be deleted. Default sheets in the templateprovided by Thomson Reuters cannot be deleted, but they can be hidden if you do not need to usethem. [See Hiding and Displaying Sheets]

To delete a sheet from a calculation:

1. In the Navigation pane, right-click on an inserted sheet and select Delete Sheet.

2. Click Yes to delete the sheet.
