CIAC conducted XI Empanelment Arbitration workshop from 29th April to 1st May 2016 at Lucknow. 22 participants participated in this program.
This program was inaugurated by Hon'ble Justice Mr. Satyendra Singh Chauhan, Judge Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court and the valedictory session blessed by Hon'ble Judge Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman Central Govt. Industrial tribunal cum Labour court.
Events of M/S L & W Construction Pvt. Ltd.:
M/s L & W Construction Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, a 100% subsidiary of Lee Kim Tah - Woh Hup Pte Ltd of Singapore, has joined the CIDC family, as a Permanent Corporate member. Its Managing Director, Mr. Asaithambi Manickam has very kindly accepted to the invitation of Chairman CIDC, to serve as the Board of Governor of CIDC for current term. L & W Construction is one of the leading construction companies of India & has been responsible for successful execution of several civil Infrastructure projects in the Country. Notice for Enlistment/ Registration of Vendors/ Contractors for Supply/ Services
in the CIDC – Construction Industry Database
CIDC was established as an autonomous council by the Planning Commission (Now NITI Aayog), Govt. of India, to introduce system improvements in the construction industry. Members of CIDC include, PFC Ltd, HUDCO, BHEL, HDFC, EPIL, LIC Housing Finance, NBCC Ltd, BPCL, RITES, E-in-C’s Branch (Army HQ), Airports Authority of India Ltd, Central Warehousing Corporation, CPWD, GAIL, NTPC Ltd, NHPC Ltd, Engineers (India) Ltd., ONGC, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Railways etc
Keeping in view, the focus of the government, on providing impetus to infrastructure development, a tremendous opportunity exists in the development process of supplying goods & services to the major Project Owners & their Contractors & Service providers. To meet the same, CIDC is preparing a National database of stakeholders across South Asia. In this connection our counterpart in Bhutan, Construction Development Board (CDB), Ministry of Work & Human Settlement, Royal Government of Bhutan have also been approaching us to provide them a list of reliable vendors and have sought access to our database. Similar arrangements are also being discussed with other countries of the region.
The 4th Phase registrations in the CIDC National Database are now open. Competent and experienced Consultants, Manufacturers for supplying Materials, Accessories, Consumables, etc., and Contractors for providing Services, or Manpower for construction projects for river, highway bridges , tracks for railways, sports stadia, industrial buildings, residential and commercial complexes, integrated projects for power generation and distribution systems, air conditioning systems, finishing/ interiors works, piling etc at various locations across India and other South Asian nations are encouraged to enlist in the database.
The Database is hosted on www.cidcdatabase.com/ and is accessible to all project owners & stakeholders. Applications for Registration are also invited for Consultants and Suppliers of Services for PPP Projects in Roads and Highways.
OEMs/VENDORS/CONTRACTORS/CONSULTANTS MEETING THE CRITERIA OF ENLISTMENT SHALL ONLY BE REGISTERED in the Database.
For list of Items / Services required, Criteria for Registration, Application Forms and other details please log on to the website www.cidcdatabase.com / www.cidc.in.
Request for registration along with forms duly completed in all respect should reach latest by 30th June 2016 to the address mentioned below.

CIDC – Activities: Registration of Professional Engineers:
1) Introduction: Registration of Professional Engineers, Associate Professional Engineers, Student Engineers, and some other categories on a voluntary basis is going on since 16th November, 2015. Member Associations (MAs) have a major role to play as they call for applications, screen them through their set up National Committees (NCs) for respective fields/disciplines of engineering. These NC give their recommendations to the Board of Registration of Professional Engineers (BRPE) set up by ECI.
2) Benefits of Registering: The Registration, enhances the credibility and image of the Engineer. His/her acceptance by industry, institutions, clients and other organisations goes up when he/she mentions the fact of this registration as PE (or APE or SE) which distinguishes him/her from those who are not registered. We are informing the various government departments, public sector organisations, local authorities, industry associations regarding the National Register. Specifically, it will result in:
(i) Better credibility and possibility to make use of the branding of ECI and concerned Member Associations, as the names are being listed on the website.
(ii) Using the Certificate of Registration as PE in the National Register as a part of CV, and
(iii) Better prospects for assignments/jobs after this is publicised to client/employer organisations.
3) National Registers: There are separate National RegisterS FOR (I) PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (P.E), (ii) AssociaTE
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (APE),(iii) Apprentice/ Graduate Engineers (ApE), (iv) Junior Apprentice Engineer (JrApE), (v) Student Engineer (SE) and (vi) Diploma/B.Voc Student Engineer (DiSE). There are separate National Registers under each category for different engineering fields/disciplines: CONSTRUCTION, CONSULTING, IT,COMPUTERS /Telecom /Civil /Electrical /Mechanical/ ChemicaL/MINING/METALLURGY/INDUSTRIAL/
AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING, ETC. The details and Criteria for registration under each category, Disciplines and Code of Ethics which the applicant has to sign, are given on the web site www.ecindia.org.
4) Categories and Fee: Initial registration fee is Rs. 3000 for PE, Rs. 2000 for APE, Rs 1000 for SE and DiSE. And for other categories, the fee is Rs 2000. Fee will be 50% for those registering till June 30, 2016. A special concessional fee of Rs. 1000 will be applicable for those applying for PE under ‘Grandfather’ category till June 30, 2016. The fee structure is subject to change in future. The registration is subject to renewal after 5 years.
5) Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Each PE/APE is expected to meet minimum CPD requirement
before being considered for renewal of registration. Nature of the programmes constituting CPD activities and credit hours to be earned are given on the web site www.ecindia.org. It is the aggregate of credit hours earned in 5-years that will determine as to whether a PE has secured at least 250 credit hours within his/her five years’ registration validity period or not, for re-registration. MAs have a major role in organizing the CPD programmes for respective disciplines.

CIDC – Activities: Progress of Work at Dhaulana:
Dhaulana training campus named "Vishwakarma Tritiya (VKT)" is under construction and striving to become one of the prominent training establishment not only in NCR but in the country.
This centre has already commenced offering vocational training in construction trades, internship for engineering students and certification of workers. The centre is making efforts to invite external faculties from industry to make sure that the passing out candidates are industry ready.
VKT is also committed to serve THDC by providing trained and certified manpower to upcoming power plant at Khurja to be constructed and commissioned by THDC. An initial dialogue between senior officials of both the organisations have resulted in such synergy.
An interesting program "Bachelor of Vocation" jointly with Teeranthakar Mahaveer University and Sighania University has also commenced at Dhaulana.
Counseling Session at CIDC, Gorakhpur Centre:
A counselling session was organized for Engineers India Limited sponsored job oriented skill development program on 09th April, 2016 at Gorakhpur Centre. Mr. P. K. Mishra, Addl. Director, addressed the trainees and shared the future opportunities in their career.
World Heritage Day: A campaign was organized to raise the trainees’ awareness about
the diversity of cultural heritage and the effort that are required to protect and conserve it, as well as draw attention to its vulnerability at CIDC Gorakhpur centre on 18th April, 2016. The campaign began with an interactive session where trainees were told about the varied facts of heritage which includes forts, palaces, festivals, fairs. The session also highlighted that heritage is a treasure trove of the past and it is the responsibility of the present generation to protect. Preserve and promote its continuity for the future generation. Essay competition was organized for trainees on the topic of Heritage.

CIDC – Activities: Interactive session of Engineers at Gorakhpur:
Dr P R Swarup, DG, CIDC/Member Secretary, Engineering Council of India chaired a meeting of engineers on 24th April, 2016 in Gorakhpur. Dr Swarup shared views on Engineering Council of India and on need of Continuous Professional Development Program.
Training of Pidilite Products by CIDC Trainers at VKP Faridabad CIDC Training Centre:
Pidilite product training was conducted at CIDC Centres by Trainers of CIDC. Students were briefed about the advantages of using Pidilite products in Building & Construction and were informed that the suitable methodology for waterproofing is based on its suitability, availability of material and skilled labor. The students were also informed that waterproofing systems or products are different for different parts of a structure namely the roof, basement or walls; the location, climatic conditions, usability of a structure would determine the system to be used.
