“Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you.” Romans 15:7

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church warmly welcomes people of any age, race, nationality, sexual orientation, life circumstance, and physical or mental capability.

P The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C And also with you.

Gathering WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

P Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, whose steadfast love is everlasting, whose faithfulness endures from generation to generation.

C Amen.

P Trusting in the mercy of God, let us confess our sin.

Silence is kept for reflection.

P Reconciling God,

C we confess that we do not trust your abundance, and we deny your presence in our lives. We place our hope in ourselves and rely on our own efforts. We fail to believe that you provide enough for all. We abuse your

good creation for our own benefit. We fear difference and do not welcome others as you have welcomed us. We sin in thought, word, and deed. By your grace, forgive us; through your love, renew us; and in your Spirit, lead us; so that we may live and serve you in newness of life. Amen.

P Beloved of God, by the radical abundance of

divine mercy we have peace with God through ☩ Christ Jesus, through whom we have obtained grace upon grace. Our sins are forgiven. Let us live now in hope. For hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

C Amen.

PSALM: 8 Max Epling

L O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

C Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.

L When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;

C what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

L Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.

C You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,

L all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,

C the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

L O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

MEDITATION “All Authority” Pastor Paul Baumgartner

GOSPEL READING: Matthew 28:16-20

P The holy gospel according to Matthew.

C Glory to you, O Lord.

At the conclusion of the reading:

P The gospel of the Lord.

C Praise to you, O Christ.

*NICENE CREED

P With the whole church, let us confess our faith.

C We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he

suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PEACE P The peace of the Lord be with you always.

C And also with you.

P Let us greet each other with Christ’s peace.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Myra Rissmiller (As the Minister closes each petition with the words, “Lord, in your mercy,” worshippers respond with the words, “hear our prayer.”)

LORD’S PRAYER P Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach

us to pray.

C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and

the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Sending BLESSING

P Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ

Jesus. God, the creator, ☩ Jesus, the Christ, and the Holy Spirit, the comforter, bless you and keep you in eternal love.

C Amen.

POSTLUDE “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” Thomas Eisnor - Robert J. Hughes

DISMISSAL

P Go in peace. Christ is with you.

C Thanks be to God.

We are called, gathered and blessed to be a community and instrument of grace for all sheep of the Good Shepherd.

REOPENING POSTPONED We will NOT be reopening Good Shepherd for in-person worship services or activities next week, as we had so hoped. In an abundance of love and concern, it is the consensus of our Congregation Council that we cannot provide the necessary safety measures to accomplish that at this time. The Council has appointed a COVID-19 Response Task Force to work through the very detailed guidance for reopening provided by our synod and by the CDC. We are not setting another target date for reopening at this time, as many things still change from day to day. We will be communicating with you regularly, so please stay alert for those messages. We will also continue to post Sunday worship services for you on our website.

Good Shepherd Class of 2020-Cards are due THIS WEEK! With everything going on through this pandemic one of the groups being affected is our high school seniors. Since the closures and cancellations of schools, they are not able to have the traditional activities like parties, prom, senior awards, picnics, and most of all commencement. Each year we create a board that highlights our graduating seniors, as well as hold a blessing and presenting of GSLC blankets. Good Shepherd is still planning on having this recognition, however, we want to do a little extra for our seniors. In addition to showing a presentation/video that highlights these youth in the Fellowship Hall and Entryway TV's, another thing we would like to do is ask members of the congregation to send cards to our

graduates. We ask when sending cards to our graduates that you consider sending a card to all of our graduates and not one specific individual. Mail them to the church or drop them off and we will distribute them at our graduation recognition service when it occurs. Below are the names of our seniors. Please send or drop off your cards to the church this week. A bin is on the porch. Congratulations Good Shepherd Class of 2020
