KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

Welcome back everyone to an exciting Term 3. A few special events have been organised including: our Annual

Book Fair as part of our Book Week celebrations, Responsible Pet Ownership Program, Whole School Excursion, Father’s Day Brekky, Life Ed Van visit and our traditional Footy Day. As you are aware, our Parents’ Club organised an Election Day Cake Stall & BBQ. It was very successful with us rais-ing approximately $1,150 on the day. Thank you to all of our families who baked some delicious cakes, slices and sweet treats. The call for extra cooks and helpers was well received! I would like to thank the following people for helping on the day: Lisa Irwin, Deanne Moulsdale, Karlie McGrath, Annette Hunt, Tracy Blake, Amy & Alan Keat, Rob McCully, Ron Long, Tina Kerr and Tish Okely. A special thanks to Jim Garcia (ex-parent) who just happened to be in the right place at the right time (from our point of view) as he restored the power we lost in our Library where the Polling Booths were. Lucky Jim because not long after that Lachy Kerr (our resident electrician) walked in. Our school received some great exposure on Election Day with lots of past families returning, new families as well as our local and broader community visiting our facilities.

A fire wood raffle was also on offer. It is for a trailer load of wood 1 cubic m.

Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Tickets have been attached to this newsletter for those families who may be interested in buying some. All tickets and money are due back on Thursday 14th July as we will be drawing the raffle before school finishes on Thursday. Good luck! I would like to welcome Maddison Scott to Kialla Central Primary School. She is doing her placement for her Education Support studies. Maddison is working in Miss Baker’s grade from Monday 11th until Wednesday 20th July. We hope you enjoy your time at our school Maddison.

This year our Whole School Excursion is on Friday 5th August. We are going to the Jurassic World Exhibition, “Walking with Dinosaurs”

at iMax theatre, Melbourne Museum Dinosaur section and then a taste of Italian at Café Cavallino for lunch in Lygon St. I am hoping Signora Pasqualia will be able to join us for our Lygon St experience. All of the excursion is covered by our excursions levy except for our lunch. There is a small cost of $10.00 per student for lunch. Permission notes will be sent home this week. As a lead up and follow up to this unique experience our students will be learning about dinosaurs. If you have any questions please come and see me.

Over the holidays the Department of Justice’s Community Service Crew

tidied up our grounds as best they could given the wet weather. We usually hold a Working Bee at the start of each term to do the maintenance jobs that are required. There are still quite a number of jobs outstanding, however, our grounds are really wet and there is more rain forecast this week. As a result I am postponing our Working Bee until our grounds dry out. School photos are on Tuesday 26th July. Envelopes will be sent home this week. Jackson (Grade 2) has joined Kialla Central Primary School. He has moved down from Queensland! Welcome to the Kialla Central Team Jackson! Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of K.C.P.S.

REMINDERS Some cases of head lice were reported over the holidays. I cannot stress enough the importance of regular checks of your child/ren’s hair. All families must be vigilant in order to keep this issue under control.

CONGRATULATIONS LIESL!

Our very own Liesl (Grade 6) tried to let this outstanding achievement slip under the radar. I encourage you all to read this article from the Shepp News to get an idea of Liesl’s

accomplishment. Musician by day … Ninja by night!
