The Story Of

Cosmo

Once upon a t ime, all furniture was crafted by ar tisans. Today craftsman-ship is not commonplace and is becoming increasingly harder find. In the past, artisan furniture was not only made to last but was also built with soul and passion – our mission is to bring these values back to life. The Cosmo sofa is the result of this journey. We were inspired by the idea that buying a sofa is a life event. We did not want to create a piece of furniture that is anonymous - we wanted to design a sofa with character. A sofa that would make you smile day after day when you enter the room, no matter the angle you see it from. That would be durable and of the highest quality. That would make you want to comfortably sit down with your friends and share the good moments in life. A sofa to inspire you.

A Cosmo sofa is ergonomically designed to support your back when sitting down. Its deeper seat depth allows neck support when lying down while resting your legs on an ottoman. Cosmo sofa is a perfect unison of beauty and functionality. The frame is constructed of hardwood and plywood, the springs are made of metal and the sofa is upholstered with high-resiliency foam. Making a Cosmo sofa takes time. Time, that results in a unique handcrafted touch. A touch that makes you fall in love with our Cosmo sofa.

Joonas who graduated from Tartu Art College has worked as a project manager at Design Night festival and his design projects have been awarded at several design competitions. One of his most remarkable feats is definitely the 13.7 m2 student apartment in Tartu which incorpo-rated all the conveniences of spaces several times its size thanks to his ingenious solu-tions. At Oot-Oot, Joonas is in charge of designing and developing technical solutions. He calls himself colour-blind because he only acknowledges black, grey and white on the wide spectre of colours. Despite that, he has recently found himself successfully juggling turquoise and lime green with an added hint of lemon here and there.

Marko has been actively taking part of different design projects as a curator and festival director. In the spring of 2013, he brought a sweet design award home from Hong Kong with his innovative bicycle bag. His final project at Tartu Art College was called Module System because modules and systems are Marko’s area of exper-tise. His systematic thinking combined with Joonas’s aesthetic tricks give rise to products which strike a perfect balance between beauty and functionality. Marko lives in the perpetual tomorrow, trying to catch the favourable winds and stay on the right course with all his endeavours.
