2. The thematic priority and the workshop in Brussels
‘Geography matters’: the usefulness of territorial approacheswhen exploiting economic potentials at regional and local level
The workshop will focus on the interrelations between the issue of cultural and hystorical heritage and the sustainableeconomic development paradigm. It aims at exchanging ideasand best practices by highlighting exploited and unexploited potentialities of the role of both private and public actors within this process
The workshop will take place on October 12, from 14.30 to 17.30, at Fundación Galicia Europa, Brussels.

portal, a new web tool to computerise the artistic legacy of the Venetian Villas
- Aimed at facilitating information access through an improved tourism info system and service. Villevenete.net directly benefited potential tourists and help regional tourism authorities integrate new technology-based services with their existing information facilities

“THE VISIT DESTINATION-SAAREMAA!”
-Touristic promotion of Saare County towards Swedish, Finnish, Latvian and Lithuanian markets
- Website, special campaigns and participation to touristic fairs in Stockholm, Helsinki, Riga and Vilnius
-The target group of the projects was families with children, women and healthy lifestyle and nature loving people.

- City of Valmiera as a centre of regional importance, which will facilitate attraction of investors, development of tenacious and start-up companies, accessibility of services and working places

- Development of cultural heritage and Latgalian identity and traditions (unique architecture, crafts and cultural education) and creative industry potential concentration

“THE OPENED MUSEUM OF THE LOST CITY”
-Reconstruction of the Lost City (Orasul de Floci) - a medieval town from the fourteenth century, the former capital of the province for four centuries, where the national leader Michael the Brave, the founder of the first union of all Romanian provinces, was born
- The project creates a pole of economic and touristic attraction specific to low-density territories with a high level of unemployment and aging population

“CREATIVE DIALOGUE IN THE TRADITION ACROSS
THE BORDER”
- Project aimed to capture, preserve, revitalize and promote selected types of folk crafts, workshops, seminars and present crafts within folklore festivals of the Trencin Region and Zlin Region
- The project proposes cultural interchange in the field of handicrafts and folk groups

- Restoration of an historic and artistic estate suffering serious degradation of the buildings after two centuries of improper use and abandonment

5. Next steps
- By Friday 04 March, midnight, 24 regional partnerships have applied to participate in the OPEN DAYS 2011
- The OPEN DAYS team will now assess the applications. Final results of selected applicants should be announced by 28 March
- 3 May first event partners’ meeting: presentation of the draft programme
- 27 May next deadline for submitting final descriptions and details for the workshop in Brussels and local events
