Staff and Volunteer Leadership Development ERGs make intentional efforts towards continuous learning and growth in advancing inclusion within the Y’s career pipeline. ERGs ensure staff and volunteer leaders are reflective of and trusted within the communities they serve and as a peer support network. ERGs support recruitment and retention efforts that are inclusive of all dimensions of diversity and leverage the strength of each individual's uniqueness. YMCA Capacity Building ERGs support organizational knowledge building and strategic engagement aimed at meeting diverse community needs, addressing demographic shifts and strengthening communities. ERGs advise Ys advancement of diversity and inclusion through policies, brand, governance and operational practices. Community Engagement with Target Populations ERGs identify target populations with which Ys wish to further engage. ERGs use existing community assets to deepen relationships and commitment with underserved and under-represented communities. ERGs connect with diverse individuals , Ys and community partners to develop long-term engagement strategies with target populations. Building Bridges Between Communities ERGs serve as a space for people to learn and better understand one another to create inclusive spaces and strengthen communities. ERGs support each other and the movement through the identification of Y’s needs and leverage support in target areas. Ys see the ERGs as a bridge builder between individuals, groups and communities.
