Open IPTV Forum Mission

• The mission of the OIPF is to support providers and suppliers of the IPTV ecosystem by driving a consistent global IPTV market for both managed and unmanaged services in ongoing iterative stages to provide a quality IPTV consumer experience

• The OIPF will deliver specifications, profiles, testing, interoperability and certification in promotion of the Forum’s mission

Presenter
Presentation Notes
To provide an IPTV solution enabling a "plug and play" experience for the end-users and filling an industry gap of interoperable implementations. The "plug and play" experience for the end-user requires quite a lot of advanced technologies behind the scenes, and the end to end IPTV solution is not an exception. The “plug and play” experience for the behind-the-scenes solution requires the implementation of interoperable specifications based on standard protocols. The Open IPTV Forum’s goal is to make use of appropriate published standards and specifications from, respectively, standards development organizations and industry consortia, and provide the “glue” via it solution specifications to create interoperability amongst the required equipment in the end-to-end chain between the content source and the end user equipment.

OIPF in Eastern Europe• European Membership strong – 29 of 58 members

– But Eastern European representation weak

• Work of OIPF very relevant to Eastern Europe– High percentage of higher speed access networks– Vibrant and diverse IPTV market– Undergoing rapid expansion– But market is highly fragmented

• Would benefit from more coordinated approach• Better interoperation and easier (ie lower cost) integration• Broader pool of deployable applications

• No specific Eastern Europe IPTV standards initiatives exist– OIPF specifications can form common foundation for

future
