OPEN TO YOUROPE MOBILITY INFORMATION CAGLIARI - SARDINIA Mobility to Sardinia was very interesting and educational, which included heritage visits, discussions, cultural programme, workshops and entertainment. It was well or- ganized opportunity to communicate with learners, now friends, from other countries, to exchange their experiences and knowledge about history and heritage of the visit- ing places and above all to engage in the discussions and practical experience in the workshops, such as traditional crafts, cooking and art. People forged friendship and understanding of different cultures and traditions, also they learned words of friend- ship in other languages and these skills were an ice-breaking activity from the begin- ing of the project and facilitated communication. We visited Nuraghe site developed in Neolithic and had a curator who talked about its mystical purpose not yet discovered. It was a time of the Carnival, so we went to the small mountainous town of Ottana and watched traditional dance prepared for this special occasion. We also joined dancers in the city centre and learned tradi- tional Sardinian music. We visited the old Salt factory which is a museum today and the national park with flamingoes and other marsh birds and animals. This visit to Sardinia would be lacking the thrill if we would not visit the beach, even if it was raining. Our hostʼs town of Quartu Santʼ Elena was the crown of the visit which included Cappuccinoʼs monastery, the main basilica Saint Helena, the childrenʼs sanctuary where they prepared for us traditional cackes, one of the oldest small chapels from the year 1000, an informal museum which held an amazing collection of the tools and artifacts used in everyday life throughout ages. Our guide was Marylena who learned English so well during the project that she talked about the heritage of Quartu St Helena. Our hosts prepared a feast, cooked and provided by the members of the Centro Territoriale Permanente 24. It was fantastic experience and we tried the most delicious and traditional Sardinian food. We participated in several workshops in order to learn more about this fascinating world. They also pre- pared an exhibition of all our visits, shown a film and cultural programmed and we took part in ceremonial award for the members of the partnerʼs organization as well as we received our certificates.
