Effective opening statements are a key advocacy tool in arbitration. The opening statement offers a strategic opportunity to establish the context within which the arbitrator should consider the evidence about to be produced. During this program, an experienced AAA ® Arbitrator and two skilled professionals will examine the framework of a good opening statement from their perspectives, using case scenarios and other current materials. The speakers will also address: Should you read your opening statement? Should you defer your opening statement? Discipline vs. contract cases: Is there a significant difference when it comes to opening statements? Procedural vs. substantive issues: What is the impact on opening statements? Who Should Attend? Labor and management representatives including union representatives, human resources professionals, attorneys, shop stewards, business agents, and individuals who assist advocates in the preparation and presentation of evidence for labor arbitration cases will find the information in this program invaluable.
