LOCALS SEAFOOD AND PERSON ST. BARLocals Seafood connects our community with the best fresh
and wild catch from North Carolina’s own coastal waters.
Already a thriving seafood operation supplying fish and
shellfish to the finest restaurants in the area, Locals will
offer a fresh-catch market, along side casual seafood dining.
They’ll be teaming up with Person Street Bar, already the
best neighborhood pub in Mordecai, to provide quality
beverage service to the dining hall at large.
SAXAPAHAW GENERAL STORESaxapahaw General Store is a grocery store and restaurant
in a former gas station out in Saxapahaw, NC; a small
countryside spot the New York Times called, “The middle
of somewhere.” With a full selection of local and organic
produce and meats, as well as groceries and household
goods, they are the dining and gathering place for their
community. Saxapahaw General has been a destination for
regional foodies for a little while now, but food writers for
the New York Times and Gourmet Magazine helped put
Saxapahaw on the national stage. The attention hasn’t
changed a thing, and now Saxapahaw General Store is
bringing their farm-to-market grocery model and love of
food, “locally grown and lovingly prepared,” to Transfer Co.
CHIRBA CHIRBAChirba Chirba is a food truck known for its street-food
inspired dumplings and pork-belly buns, and now they’re
taking up residence at Transfer Co., where their seasonal
menu will feature their same delightful mix of Chinese
flavors.
CHE EMPANADASChe Empanadas boasts the most authentic, handmade
empanadas “this side of Argentina.” Using local, organic
ingredients, and family recipes from Moises Ville, Argentina,
Che Empanadas started as an authentic option for catering
parties in the local Argentine community, and larger demand
quickly grew from there.
BOULTED BREAD AND JUBALA COFFEEBoulted Bread is a craft bakery famous for their organic,
heirloom grain breads and pastries. They’ve been named
a top bakery by Bon Appetite Magazine , and even won “Best
Croissant” by Food and Wine Magazine . Their renown reaches
is far beyond Raleigh, but their devotion to our community
keeps them local. Boulted will be teaming up with Jubala
Coffee, the area’s most celebrated coffee purveyor. With
several regional and two national championships,
placements at the world competition, and a trip to Seoul this
November to compete on the world stage again, Jubala
is home to some of the nation’s most highly-decorated
baristas who understand the serious craft of making coffee,
and the value of responsible sourcing. Even with all the
acclaim, the folks at Boulted and Jubala couldn’t be more
welcoming, or more local. Their new concept will continue
to celebrate our community.
CENTRO AND GALLO PELÓNCentro and Gallo Pelón founders Angela Salamanca and
Marshall Davis are teaming up to design a new concept,
the heart of which will be an on-sight fresh tortilla making
operation. Hot off the press tortillas will be served with
a variety of dishes, and also packaged for distribution.
This is another example of how Transfer Co. is a unique
opportunity to blend ingenuity with community. Being
able to see the tortillas being made is at the heart of a
dining experience rooted in the feeling of place.
VIDERI CHOCOLATE
Videri Chocolate uses the finest organic, fair-trade cocoa
beans available. They roast, winnow, grind, mix, and temper
their carefully selected beans to make beautiful, fine
chocolate bars and confections. They even offer baker’s
chocolate for the serious pastry chefs among us.
