Komatsu CLSSThe CLSS (Closed Load Sensing System)

hydraulic circuit guarantees power, speed

and perfect control to all movements,

including the combined ones. The main

feature of this system is the connec-

tion between the variable displacement

pump and the closed-centre circuit with

load sensing, which allows operators to

perform all movements with maximum ef-

fi ciency, regardless of the load or the rpm.

These characteristics are highlighted by

the hydraulic servo-controls, which are

by far the easiest to use and require mini-

mum efforts to perform extremely precise

manoeuvres.

ComfortDespite its compact size, the PC18MR-2 offers a

comfort which has no equals. Thanks to the wide

operator space, excellent accessibility to the seat

both for canopy and cab version, large fl oor free from

obstacles, adjustable seat and ergonomic position of

all the controls, the comfort of this new miniexcavator

can be compared to the one of higher category.

VersatilityMany available confi gurations allow the operator to

choose the right machine for the specifi c job: short or

long arm, canopy or cab, rubber or steel shoes, extra

counterweight.

Moreover, the 1 / 2 way auxiliary hydraulic circuit con-

sents to use multiple working tools, like the hammer,

the clamshell bucket, the auger, etc.

ORFS hydraulic face seal connectors and DT electric

connectors improve the reliability of the machine and

make repairs easier and faster.

Special technical solutions have allowed to extend up

to 500 hours the intervals for most ordinary mainte-

nance operations, such as pin greasing or engine oil

replacement.

Also, to avoid possible leakage, all tanks are equipped

with a draining hose: this confi rms once again the

attention KOMATSU pays to the environment.

MaintenanceAll periodic inspection points are easily accessible

through the bonnets.

In addition, extra-ordinary maintenance can be per-

formed by simply tilting the canopy upwards: under

the fl oor, the operator can fi nd all major hydraulic

components, like the main valve or the swing motor.

Designed with the utmost attention to detail, the operator’s environment ensures that comfort, accessibility and

visibility are not compromised. The two pole canopy, or the cab with the wide sliding door, allows easy access

to and from the machine. Once seated the spacious and obstacle free fl oor grants even the tallest operator room

to move his legs. The operator’s environment is further complemented by the adjustable seat and the ergonomic

PPC controls. Two speed tracking is operated by a switch located on the dashboard where it is possible to moni-

tor all the machine functions.

EngineThe KOMATSU engine supplies the required power, keeping the fuel

consumption very low. By taking advantage of state of the art technolo-

gies, it ensures minimum levels of noise and emissions (STAGE 2).

Automatic Shift DownOnce turned on, this device automatically adjusts the hydraulic travel

motor to the working conditions: maximum displacement for faster

movements, minimum displacement for top drawbar pull. This process

doesn’t require operator’s support.

Attachment LineThe 1 / 2 way auxiliary hydraulic circuit allows the use of several tools for

different purposes: hammer, clamshell bucket, and so on. The switching

between the two options is realised simply by means of a cock, which is

located on the side of the machine and right behind a little bonnet.

Variable UndercarriageFor the applications requiring maximum versatility in terms of size and

stability, the PC18MR-2 is equipped with standard hydraulic extension

of the undercarriage, which can be easily obtained by operating a push

button and the blade control lever from the driver’s seat. This device

allows to shift from the maximum stability confi guration, for working, to

the minimum width, less than one meter, to drive through restricted pas-

sages or doors.

Reliability and OperabilityParticular technical solution contribute to increase the sturdiness and

the operability of the machine. Among these, we can highlight the cast

swing support, that confers extreme rigidity to the structure, and the

boom, that lodges the hydraulic hoses, protecting them from possible

damages, guaranteeing the best visibility over the digging area.
