Tuition Discount: Current and new students are eligible for tuition

Discount is for out-of-state tuition only

Residency/Military status: Students who meet the criteria for

Maryland residency and active duty military and their spouses

receive the regular UMUC rates

MBA, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Digital Forensics and

Cyber Investigation, executive, and doctoral programs

Employees must verify their employment, and spouses and

dependents must verify their status to be eligible for the

application fee waiver and discount

UMUC uses the IRS definitions of spouse and dependent

– A letter from HR on company letterhead with name, agency, dates of

employment

– Most recent pay stub with name, agency, date

• 2 ways to verify status as dependent*

– Birth certificate

– Tax return from previous year

• 2 ways to verify status as spouse*

– Marriage certificate

– Tax return from previous year

No. UMUC offers a tuition discount only

on out-of-state tuition. All in-state students

are already receiving the lowest possible

rates offered by the state of Maryland.

3. How do I know if my

previous coursework will be

transferred to UMUC?

For an estimation of how your prior

coursework will transfer, please submit

unofficial transcripts along with your

choice of major/minor to

[email protected] for a tentative evaluation

(TE). TEs take 24-48 business hours to

complete.

You may also visit www.umuc.edu/TES to

utilize the Transfer Evaluation System for

an estimate of how your coursework may

transfer.

4. Does UMUC offer online

and face-to-face courses?

Are the online courses self-

paced?

UMUC offers courses entirely online and

in a hybrid format. UMUC offers hybrid

courses at its classroom locations in the

DC metro area.

UMUC’s online courses are asynchronous,

which means that students do not have to

log into the class at a particular time.

However, the courses are not self-paced.

Students must follow the course schedule

and submit assignments by the due dates in

the course syllabus.
