Summer is in full gear now, and there are so many things competing for your time. Summer is the time for vacations, sports tournaments, and enjoying family time together. I certainly encourage you to take advantage of all those opportunities, but I also want to encourage you to be here when you’re in town. Your family takes priority, but make sure your family knows that gathering for worship is also one of your priorities. Plus, you’re a part of our family, and we miss you when you’re not here. I also want to encourage you to keep up with our reading plan. If you are on track with us, we are working through Week 26 in the reading plan. We’re at the halfway point in the reading plan. Stay disciplined! The first two days will focus on Daniel. The book of Daniel reads like two different books. The first six chapters of Daniel are mostly sto-ries, but the last six chapters contain a lot of vivid imagery similar to Revelation. It may seem a little confusing, but the main question to remember is “How would these chapters be encouraging to someone living under persecution?” These words were written while the Israel-ites were living as captives in Babylon. The final three days of the reading plan will focus on the first six chapters of Ezra. Ezra was a scribe, one who was responsible for copying the Law onto scrolls. He was also one of the first to lead exiles out of Babylon and back into Jerusalem. Under his leadership, the Israelites began to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem and return to a faithful relationship with God. Ezra is a key figure in the return and restoration of Israel following the Babylonian exile. This Sunday morning, I’ll hang back in the reading plan from Week 25 and preach from Jeremiah 52. In this chapter, we will see the climax of God’s judgment of Israel, the destruction of Solomon’s Temple, and the deportation of the Israelites to Babylon. In the even-ing service, we will study a familiar passage in Ezekiel 37, which talks about the Valley of Dry Bones. We might even sing a verse of the song inspired by this story! I hope to see you here Sunday. Keep going in the reading plan and have a blessed week! In Christ, Jason

THE BOONEVILLE BAPTIST

A Message from Carter’s Corner This week in the life of our youth, we will be going across the street on Wednesday, June 21, for fellowship and a time of worship with our sister church, First United Methodist Church! We are excited about this joint fellowship and time of worship. We also have many local mission plans this summer here in Booneville. Starting this week, our youth will be engaged in different missional projects. This week, our youth will be serving at VBS at Prentiss Industries. Prentiss Industries is a facility for handicapped adults. Our youth will be leading in singing, crafts, recreation, and Bible study time. Throughout this summer, our students will also be doing some yard work clean-up. If you have anything around your house such as flowerbed work, moving different household items in your house, or just ordinary cleanup that you can’t do, please give me a call at the church office. We would love to assist you this summer! This past Sunday, we all had the privilege of watching Lexey Baker be baptized. It is amazing to see God at work through the lives of our students here at First Baptist Church! We ask that you continue to pray for our students as they journey through this summer. Some of our students have summer jobs they are involved in and some of our students are still currently looking for jobs. No matter the situation, we thank God for our students and we thank God for your continued prayers over the lives of our youth here at FBC!
