 Computer Tutorial: Using the Opposing Viewpoints Database  Purpose: This tutorial demonstrates how to use the Opposing Viewpoints Database.  To access the Opposing Viewpoints Database from the Indian Hills Community College website (www.indianhills.edu), click “Library” at the bottom of the page.  Note: If you are off‐campus, you may need to enter the Opposing Viewpoints database username and password to continue. You can find this information when you log in to your MyHills account. The “Library Database Passwords” is located in the “My Services” module on the “MyHills Home” page.  

  The “Library” page will appear.

Click “Library Databases” on the left navigation panel.  

  The “Library Databases” page will open.

Scroll down and click “Opposing Viewpoints.”  

  

The “Gale Databases” page will open.  Note: “Gale Databases” is the “Opposing Viewpoints” database.  

  Select “Opposing Viewpoints in Context.”

The “Opposing Viewpoints” page will open.  

  You can search categories, including “Viewpoints,” “Academic Journals,” “Primary Sources,” etc., by clicking the appropriate heading.

To search for a specific subject matter, type your subject in the search box in the upper‐right corner of the page. Then, click “Search.”  

  Your search results will appear.

On the right side of the page the “On This Page” box shows the different sources you can choose to view about your subject.   

  Select “Viewpoints.”

You will be taken to the “Viewpoints” area of the page.  

  Select the article you would like to view.

The article will open.
