architecture.
Hwashi Night Market

Temple. The night market, together with night markets on
Guangjou Street, Wujou Street and Shichen Street has

There is an old Chinese idiom that reads, "Touching a stone
and turning it to gold." This phrase can have many meanings,
but at its most literal, it applies perfectly to the exquisite Tsu
Shih (Divine Progenitor) Temple in the northern Taiwanese
town of Sanhsia. Thousands of temples are scattered
throughout Taiwan's cities and countryside, most of the ones
that a visitor is likely to run across are relatively new. Most
neighborhoods have a host of small, simple temples that are
highly functional, but often a far cry from being solid
examples of the ancient tradition of temple arts that were
brought to Taiwan from the mainland Chinese province of
Fukien. Most of Taiwan's oldest temples were wrought by
master builders from this region and constructed with plans
and materials that were imported specifically for the building
of these temples.
Yingko’s Pottery Factory
Over a hundred years ago, the Yingge ceramic industry was
born out of this fertile land. It enhanced the local Taiwanese
culture with boundless vitality.
The pioneers, with their bursting creativity and strenuous
determination, Worked hard to make this town a prosperous
center of ceramics.

latitude and elevation, the park is a distinct monsoon climate
and could be divided into temperate and subtropical zones.
Thanks to its diversity in four seasons, different flowers
blossom in different times and make this park show various
styles in whole year. Yangmingshan National Park is belonging
to Tatun(Datun) Volcano Group. So, through thousands of years,
unique volcanic landforms have been created and those
volcanoes probably still exist under the land surface of Taiwan.
However, you don’t have to worry about eruption of volcano
which may happen hundreds of years after and appreciate
unique volcanically-created landforms like ponds, vents, hot
springs and so on.

Taiwan. The gold is gone, but these quaint old villages, built of
closely-packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides,
continue to offer enchanting scenery and fascinating glimpses
into the lifestyles of the past.
Chinkuashih Village(Pass by)
Pitou Cape
Pitou Cape is one of the "Three Capes of North Taiwan”. Most
of the sea-eroded landform types of the entire Northeast
Coast are found here, including the sea cliffs, undercut bluffs,
and platforms which are more fully developed here than
anywhere else in Taiwan.
Nanya Rock Formations
Nanya is noted for its fantastic rock formations and
sea-eroded coral shore. The entire coastline here is a veritable
sculpture garden that illustrates, in stone, the incomparable
artistry of weathering and wave action. The patterned stone
topography of Nanya, unique in Taiwan, was formed through
the weathering of the sandstone that lines the shore. The
oxidation of iron ore within the striations of the stone has
given it a beautiful striped pattern. (At the 89-kilometer mark
of Provincial Highway 2, or the Coast Highway)

Taroko Gorge Gateway
Taroko National Park, located in east Taiwan, is a
world-renowned land of majestic beauty and marble-walled
gorge scenery. Visitors sigh in wonder at the vertical walls,
sheer precipices, gorges, and contorted tunnels along the
route of the Liwu River. The marble has been cut and sculpted
by the relentless erosion of the river as the land has been
pushed upward over the millennia, leaving the nearly vertical
U-shaped gorge we see today.
Eternal-Spring Shrine
It is one of the major picturesque points of the park, with the
view of the mountains and the waterfall, and one of the main
memorials for veterans.
It was planned for construction in 1958 while the Central
Cross-Island Highway was built nearby. It commemorates the
memory of 212 veterans who died while constructing the
Highway (1956—1960).
The name of the temple comes from the Changchun Falls that
never stop running.[1] The Shrine is located right above the
waterfall streams.
Swallow Caves
Along the Yanzikou (Swallow Grotto) trail which runs about a
half kilometer starting from the entrance to Swallow Grotto to
the Jinheng Bridge, you can enjoy the sights of the Liwu River
from nearly straight above the water, the potholes on the cliff
faces, the springs sprinkled along the lower parts of the walls,
as well as the famous rock formation "Chieftain's profile rock".
Tunnel of Nine Turns
This section has the reputation of "Nine Turns of the Coiled
Dragon". The distance between the cliffs is only around
10-meters wide. In the small gap in the rocks, the narrow
Kelan River's rush by, forming a "Fish leaping across the
dragon gate" scenery. Have you seen a fish swimming
upstream? The trail is a must-see point and one should stop
by and enjoy the spectacular scenery that has been formed by
tens of thousands of years of river erosion. The number nine
in Chinese implying "many" is heavily used in Chinese
expression.

Puli
Puli is famous for its four 'W's - water, wine, women and
weather. Being located in a pristine mountain area, the
local spring water is pure and sweet and sold in bottles
at supermarkets around the island. The abundance of
fresh, clean water lent itself to the production of wine -
the second 'W' - while the exceptionally fine complexions
of the town's women folk, which some theorize is the
result of the local water, constitutes the third 'W'. Finally,
the fourth 'W' refers to Puli's ideal climate, which is
characterized by short and relatively dry winters and
cool summers.
Sun Moon Lake
This lake, nestled in the mountains at the center of
Taiwan, is the island’s largest lake and one of its most
beloved scenic spots. Viewed from the top of Cih-en
Pagoda, the eastern part of the lake resembles the disk of
the sun while the west side looks like the crescent moon.
The lake’s famous scenery can be enjoyed from its
surface, by boat, or from the highway that circles it.
Lukang Historical and Cultural Town
There are still many old temples in Lugang, such as
Longshan Temple and Matzu Temple. The city boasts
over 200 temples dedicated to a wide variety of folk
deities.[1] The town is also the origin of the terms
e-káng and teng-káng used respectively to refer to
southern Taiwan and northern Taiwan; the literal
meanings of the terms are below the harbor and above
the harbor.
The Yuzhenzhai cakes are famous local specialties, as
well as Lugang's Ox Tongue Cakes and oyster pancakes.
It will host the 2012 Taiwan Lantern Festival, beating out
six other contenders.

cat" This rock is a large coral reefs drops from the Sea
Cliff, Maopitou is located at between Taiwan Strait and the
Bashi Channel, constituenies with Eluanbi form the end of
most southern of Taiwan.
Try to find this cache.
Oluanpi Light House
Oluanpi also called Elyanbi. The Eluanbi Lighthouse was
built during the Qing Dynasty in 1888. Accidents in the
area were quite often due to hidden reefs. In 1888, an
English architect W. F. Spindey, a member of Royal
Geographical Society, was hired to construct this
lighthouse as a guide for nearby ships. The lighthouse is
the only armed lighthouse in the world, with a trench
surrounding it and many gun holes on the wall. The extra
fortifications were required at the time it was built
because of frequent raids by local aboriginal tribes.
Kenting National Park
Kenting National Park is situated on the Hengchun
Peninsula. This was Taiwan’s first national park; it
encompasses both land and sea areas, and includes
beaches, fantastic rock formations, and a beautiful
undersea world. It is a resort area that basks in a South
Seas atmosphere. Continuous movements of the earth’s
crust over millions of years, together with sea erosion,
have created marvels of coral reefs, sea-eroded landforms,
and cliff topography here.
British Consulate
In front of the old British Consulate on the hill above
Hsi-tzu-wan (西子灣 ) at ShaoChuanTou(哨船頭 ) in
Kaohsiung stands a stone slab inscribed with graceful
Chinese characters. This classical stone stele expresses
the Chinese feeling of shame over the Opium Wars and
subsequent foreign encroachments on Chinese soil and
expounds on how Kaohsiung's previous mayor, Wang
Yu-yun, had proposed that the then-ruined building be
restored as a monument to Chiang Kai-shek's fight against
foreign invaders and unequal treaties.

Sun Moon Lake
Sun Moon Lake is the island’s largest lake. It is a beautiful
alpine lake, divided by the tiny Lalu Island; the eastern part
of the lake is round like the sun and the western side is
shaped like a crescent moon, hence the name “Sun Moon
Lake”. Its beauty is created by the combination of mountain
and water scenery, and its 760-meter elevation helps give the
impression of a Chinese landscape painting with mist-laden
water and clearly defined levels of mountains. The constant
changes of mists and moods on the lake make it impossible
to comprehend in a single look, and thus, visitors like to
linger here.
Alishan National Scenic Area
In Chiayi, there are hills, mountains, forests, unique rock
formations, waterfalls, and many other incredible scenic
wonders. Within the Chiayi region, Alishan (Mt. Ali) is
especially well-known for its amazing scenery. Since the
Japanese Occupation, Alishan has been famous for its

Koxinga Shrine
Koxinga was called Kai-Tai Sheng-Wang (Taiwan Settling
Holy King) and deified by some temples after his death.
People worship him and his family as national hero of loyalty.
Local people built Yen-Ping Chun-Wang Tzu to worship
Koxinga. The imperial General of Inspection Shen Pao-Chen
made a recommendation to the court that a formal shrine
dedicated to Koxinga should be established after he came to
Taiwan in 1874. Began in 1875, the style of the shrine was
Northern Fukien and the imperial edict "Chung Chieh"
Royalty and Morality" was issued. A Japanese Style pavilion
was added to the shrine to function like a traditional
Japanese Shinto Shrine during the Japanese occupied period.
The old structure was demolished in 1961and a new
Northern palatial Style was constructed in 1963.
Chihkan Lou
Chihkan Lou, or the Tainan Chihkan Tower, was first built by
the Dutch in 1653 as a defense hub. It was named Fort
Provintia, with "provintia" meaning "province" in English.
When Cheng Cheng-kung expelled the Dutch, he took up
residence in the tower for nine months. After Taiwan was
included in the Qing empire, various stone tablets that
recorded the achievements of local government officials
were stored in the tower. Today, these stone tablets rank
among Taiwan's most majestic and distinctive.
Love River
The Love River has undergone many changes over the course
of time. The river was once severely polluted, but the
government, businesses, artists, and citizens have since
joined together to clean up the river and restore its beauty.
After NT$4 billion was spent on cleanup efforts, the river
now shine with natural vitality. The green park lining both
sides of the river is a very attractive urban space. When night
comes and the riverside lamps go on, the park comes alive
with strollers soaking up the romantic atmosphere.
Taitung
The custard apple (Buddha fruit) was originally called
"sweet sop". The largest custard apple cultivation area is in
Taitung County, where about 84% (around 4,850 hectares) of
all custard apple cultivation areas in Taiwan can be found.
Taitung County's Beinan Township mainly grows
original-custard apples and pineapple-custard apples, and
the main production season is from December to February.
Due to superior growth conditions, Beinan's custard apples
are of a very high quality, winning prizes in many different
farming competitions, as well as a prize for being the best
quality custard apple in the whole of Taiwan.
A series of custard apple activities are sponsored annually to
integrate the custard apple's production season with all
aspects of local tourism. The activities include tasting
activities, Aboriginal harvest festivals, and performances.
Visitors to the "Custard Apple Festival" not only get to taste
delicious food, but also to experience the unique Aboriginal
culture.
