New Installation• Use 12.1.2 Rapid Wiz for complete installationMigrating to R12 E-Business Suite on Linux on IBM System z • Running mixed architecture today (split tier - mid tier and database tier)
- Running E-Business Suite11i
Use R12 Rapid Wiz to upgrade and migrate- Running E-Business Suite R12
Migration Utility for Release 12.1 .3• Running on another platform today
11i or R12 Move existing 10gR2 Database first to Linux on IBM System z in a mixed platform architecture modeUse the methods listed above to migrate the middle tier

27
Shared Application Tier (APPL_TOP) Deployment Option
• Shared Application Tier File System
• Improves patching downtime • Reduce Disk Space requirements• Faster scalability (easily add
more resources)• Use any file system – Oracle
does not certify file systems. Common is NFS mounted, shared disk array
• Restriction: Nodes must be Binary Compatible
28
Sharing App Tier File Systems Across Multiple Database Instances
• Share App Tier File System between
two database instances• Example Dev and Test• Database must be at same patch level• Reduce Disk Space used• Reduce Patching Downtime• “All eggs are in one basket”• See Appendix B (ID 384248.1)
29
New Database Features
• Active Data Guard for E-Business Suite reporting
• Using GoldenGate with EBS for reporting
30
E-Business Suite and Active Data GuardFurther Utilizing Standby
• The basic challenge to offloading EBS reporting:– An Active Data Guard standby is read-only– Logging into EBS, managing concurrent requests both require writes
• The core of the solution:– New ADG database triggers to redirect minimal required read/write
activity back to the primary– FND layer to enable the solution– Parallel Concurrent Processing to configure and manage the report
executions
31
E-Business Suite and Active Data Guard
• Use your Active Data Guard standby instance to offload reporting load
• Works for read-only EBS reports– Test mode in primary makes it possible to determine whether
a report will run successfully on standy• Available as a patch on top of 12.1.3• Early adopter customers
32
Deploying Oracle GoldenGate to Achieve Operational Reporting for Oracle E-Business Suite
• EBS : 11.x or greater
• Oracle Database : 10.2 or greater
• Oracle Goldengate: 11gR1 or greater
