Purpose
This document includes important, late-breaking installation and configuration information about this
release of Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System products.
Note: See the individual product Readmes for other late-breaking product information.
Review this information thoroughly before installing.
It is our goal to make Oracle products, services, and supporting documentation accessible to the
disabled community. Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System supports
accessibility features, which are described in Appendix H of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise
Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
This readme file is accessible in this release in HTML format.

New Features
EPM System Installer now installs these items:
o WebLogic Server (replaces Apache Tomcat as the embedded Java container)
o Oracle HTTP Server (replaces Apache Web server as the embedded Web server)

Most EPM System products have adopted Oracle Diagnostic Logging (ODL) as the logging mechanism.
The ODL framework provides uniform support for managing log files, including log file rotation,
maximum log file size, and the maximum log directory size. For more information, see the “Using EPM
System Logs” chapter of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation
and Configuration Troubleshooting Guide.
Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) integrates with My Oracle Support and provides configuration
information for Oracle software. It assists in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and diagnostics of your
EPM System deployment. For more information about Oracle Configuration Manager, see the Oracle
Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
This release allows the system administrator to reconfigure logical references to existing, deployed
Web applications without redeploying them.
With this release, many EPM System products support host names that resolve to IPv6 addresses. See
the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Certification Matrix. IPv4 support
(both host name and IP address) remains unchanged from earlier releases.
EPM supports the following types of SSL configuration:
o Full SSL Deployment (including data access)
o SSL Terminating at the Web Server
o SSL Accelerators (off-loading)
o Two-way SSL

Management System Security Administration Guide.
EPM System Configurator now requires the Shared Services “admin” password to be changed during
system configuration. Once deployed, subsequent password changes are done through Shared
Services. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System
Installation and Configuration Guide.
Essbase now supports active-passive failover without Oracle Clusterware. You can use EPM System
Configurator to configure Essbase in an active-passive failover configuration with write-back capability.

Installation and Configuration Guide and the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management
System High Availability Guide.
Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) Client Installers are now provided for Essbase Excel Add-in and
Disclosure Management.
Essbase Server supports Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN) Integration. For more
information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and
Configuration Guide.

New Products
EPM System releases the following new products:
Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management-Helps companies define, execute, and report on the
interdependent activities of a financial close period. It provides centralized monitoring of all close
process tasks and provides a visible, automated, repeatable system of record for running close
processes.
Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management-Allows you to assemble a reporting package for
submission to a regulatory agency that includes financial statements, as well as supporting
schedules and commentary which may exist in Excel, Word, or a Financial Reporting document.

General Installation Information
This section includes important information about installing this release of EPM System products. See
the remaining sections for product-specific installation information.
This release is intended for new deployments only. Upgrading or migrating from previous EPM
System releases is not supported. In addition, products from this release are not compatible with
products and applications from previous releases.
The manual deployment of Web applications is greatly simplified, using WebLogic‟s Config
Assistant. Instructions are now provided in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance
Management System Installation and Configuration Guide; there is no longer a separate manual
deployment guide.
Relational Database as Native Directory-Replaces OpenLDAP as the central storage for native EPM
System user accounts and provisioning information. Unlike previous releases, this release supports
using only a relational database as Native Directory. Native Directory is created in the database
that you configure as the Shared Services database while deploying EPM System components. For
more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Security
Administration Guide.
By default, for most products, EPM System Installer installs 32–bit products on 32–bit operating
systems and 64–bit products on 64–bit operating systems for the Web and Services tiers.
EPM System Installer installs 32–bit client products on all operating systems. For Essbase Server
and Essbase Client, EPM System Installer installs both 32-bit and 64-bit components on a 64-bit
operating system. EPM System Configurator configures only 64-bit components on 64-bit operating
systems. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
If you are using Oracle database 10.2.0.4+, you must use a minimum of Oracle database client
11.1.0.6.0.
The following products have their own installers:

The EPM System directory structure has changed. The default directories are now Middleware
Home and EPM Oracle Home:
o A Middleware home consists of the Oracle WebLogic Server home, and, optionally, one or
more Oracle homes, including EPM Oracle home. A Middleware home can reside on a local
file system or on a remote shared disk that is accessible through Network file system (NFS).
The Middleware home location is defined during the first product installation on the
computer. Subsequent installations on the computer use the previously defined location. The default installation directory is . The Middleware home location is
referred to as throughout this document.
o An Oracle home contains installed files necessary to host a specific product, and resides
within the directory structure of the Middleware home. The EPM Oracle home contains files
for EPM System products.
Components of EPM System products are installed in the EPM Oracle home directory under
the Middleware home. The default EPM Oracle home location is
. In addition, common internal components used by the
products are installed in EPM Oracle home. The EPM Oracle home location is defined in the
system environment variable called EPM_ORACLE_HOME. The EPM Oracle home location is referred to as throughout this document.

EPM Workspace provides a consistent and interactive thin-client environment for working with EPM
content. EPM Workspace is the Web client for the following products:
o Reporting and Analysis
o Planning
o Profitability and Cost Management
o Financial Management
o EPM Architect
o Performance Scorecard
o Calculation Manager
In addition, Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher and Oracle BI EE can be configured to integrate
with EPM Workspace.
The new Foundation Services Web application consolidates to one JVM and includes these Web
applications: Shared Services and EPM Workspace.
The new Reporting and Analysis Framework consists of the Reporting and Analysis Framework Web Application and the following Reporting and Analysis Framework services:

The following SSL configurations are supported and are documented in the Oracle Hyperion
Enterprise Performance Management System Security Administration Guide:
o Full SSL Deployment (including data access)
o SSL Terminating at the Web Server

EPM System no longer installs or supports Oracle Internet Directory (OID) for use as Native
Directory.
EPM System no longer releases these items:
o Oracle Hyperion Smart Search Command Line Utility
o Hyperion Remote Access Module (HRAM)
EPM System Installer is an enterprise-caliber installation program that installs a suite of EPM
System components. It can require several hours to execute an installation.
OHS 11g requires 11g Oracle DB driver. If an oracle DB10g driver is present in any Oracle Home
on that machine, OHS doesn‟t work. To work around this issue, when you are installing Foundation
Services, do not install it on a machine that has the Oracle DB10g driver installed on it.

9811747 Services are working properly, but then a user logs off and Web
applications become inaccessible. A 404 error is returned when users attempt
to access any of the Web applications.
This problem can occur because sometimes Windows cleans out a user's temp
directory when the user logs off from a remote session. Therefore, if the user
who installed EPM System products and is running the services logs in to a
remote session of EPM System and then logs out of the remote session, upon
logout, Windows sometimes cleans out the temp files associated with this user.
Since these temp files are in use by WebLogic, deleting them causes WebLogic
to stop functioning.
If you are able to change the configuration of terminal services, do the
following:
1. Stop all EPM System services.
2. Go to Terminal Services Configuration
3. In the Edit settings area, deselect the option for “Delete temporary
folders on exit” so that it changes to No.
4. Start EPM System services.
5. Log off and test.
If you cannot change the configuration of terminal services, change the temp
location for the services:

9801171 In EPM Release 11.1.2, the Administration Services Console is missing the
Business Rules node.
This problem can occur if the Administration Services Console is the only
product installed in an EPM Oracle Home, because EPM System Installer does not install the folder when Administration Services Console is
installed alone.
To resolve this issue, install the Integration Services Client on the machine
where the Administration Services Console is installed.

The Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation
and Configuration Guide states that you can use an underscore during
installation and configuration. However, using an underscore(_) in Shared
Services Web application server machine name or in host names in EPM
System Installer and EPM System Configurator is not supported. Using
underscores in host names may cause errors when starting or connecting to
services running on the improperly named hosts. The documentation will be
updated to reflect this limitation.
9555777 When you run EPM System Configurator for Planning and then Strategic
Finance, the Planning options are displayed when you select Strategic Finance
to configure.
Workaround: Restart EPM System Configurator and proceed with the
configuration.

9388673 After you run EPM System Configurator successfully for several products, when
you rerun EPM System Configurator again, the status check boxes of the
configured parent products are still selected.
Workaround: If parent products are selected for configuration and the subtasks
are displayed as successfully configured, click Next:
If you receive a popup message indicating no tasks to run, you may
ignore the parent status and close the window.
If EPM System Configurator proceeds, then you actually have
incomplete hidden tasks to run; for example: Shared Services
registration or an internal preconfiguration task.
9366584 EPM System Diagnostics, on some machines, exceeds the timeout of 10
minutes to check Financial Management services. A warning message is
displayed.
Workaround: Change the EPM System Diagnostics timeout to 15 minutes.
9364854 When EPM System Configurator terminates abnormally before configuring EPM
System products, EPM System Configurator displays the status as complete.
Workaround: Re-run EPM System Configurator and select all the options.
9548316 Windows (64-bit): EPM System Configurator copies the wrong WebLogic IIS
plug-in on Windows (64-bit) operating system.

The WebLogic Server-provided IBM DB2 JAR file that is installed by EPM
System Installer as part of WebLogic Server does not provide support for BLOB
fields in IBM DB2 Release 9.7.
Workaround: To get this required support with IBM DB2 Release 9.7, apply the
latest WebLogic patches after you install EPM System products and before you
configure them.
9487496 EPM System Configurator fails when the WebLogic domain is created outside
EPM System Configurator and EPM System Configurator is running on the same
machine as the WebLogic Admin Server machine for the domain.
Workaround: If you are deploying to an existing WebLogic domain and the
domain WebLogic Admin Server is running on the same machine, shut down
the WebLogic Admin Server before configuring EPM System products. If a
product (for example, SOA) requires the WebLogic Admin Server to be running,
run the EPM System Configurator a second time.
9402134 On the EPM System Installer summary window, clicking the Configure button
does not start EPM System Configurator.
Workaround: From the Start menu, select Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Foundation Services, and then EPM System Configurator

Repeating full installations on a system without proper cleanup between them
can cause the system PATH to overflow (maximum length of 1024 characters),
overriding the earliest entries in the variable.
Workaround: After any uninstallation, remove unused entries from system
PATH before the next installation. Otherwise, you may have to manually
remove some unused entries from system PATH and restore other entries; for example: and
9144638 When you run EPM System Configurator, the SSL listen ports are predefined for
all deployed Web applications and then enabled. They should be in a disabled
state because EPM System Configurator does not perform automatic SSL
configuration.
Workaround: Configure SSL separately. For instructions on SSL configuration,
see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Security
Administration Guide.
8936515 When you run EPM System Configurator and configure Financial Management
Web session timeout, you are directed to specify time in seconds. The time
increment is then set in minutes, not seconds.
Workaround: Set the session timeout in minutes.
9115765 UNIX: When you run EPM System Configurator and leave the user name blank
for the database, click Next, and then go back to reenter the user name, the
Shared Services Registry tables are not created.
Workaround: Exit EPM System Configurator before reentering the user name.

9123899 When you run EPM System Configurator and choose the database configuration
option, EPM System Configurator fails if the database name has double-byte
characters.
Workaround: Change the database name to non-double-byte characters.
8807229 EPM System Configurator displays the wrong error message during SSL support
for JDBC verification.
Workaround: Restart EPM System Configurator.
8702291 In EPM System Configurator, the Web server task is listed when no Web
applications or Web servers are installed.
Workaround: Ignore the listing because you do not have to configure the Web
server on the services tier.

8255440 After a configured Shared Services database is deleted and then recreated, EPM
System Configurator stops when you attempt to configure the new database.
Workaround: Do not delete the database in the middle of configuration. If you
have already deleted the database, stop and restart EPM System Configurator.
8481513 When EPM System Installer installs files, the progress bar stalls at 99% for
over a half hour.
Workaround: EPM System Installer appears to freeze while copying over large
amounts of help files. It will complete the task, but on some slow systems, it
might take an hour. Know that if you cancel the installation, help files for EPM
System Uninstaller may not be available.
8599271 After the IIS listen port is changed, the Web server configuration task displays
the default port.
Workaround: Disregard the port displayed in the Web server configuration task.
The listen port is changed correctly.
7698703 If EPM System Configurator is running and you click Cancel, this error message
is displayed: “This action cannot be canceled….”
Workaround: Either shut down the command line window or open the Windows
Task Manager and end the Java process.
8284282 EPM System Configurator does not prompt for database information if the
database is not running.
Workaround: Verify that your database is running before you start EPM System
Configurator.
8219145 On non-Windows systems, when installing in console mode, you can select to
install Windows-only components and proceed, but the components are not
installed because they are not supported on non-Windows platforms.
8226337 Windows (64-bit): The following error message is displayed during installation
and configuration: “The value for the attribute is not valid: progid.”
Workaround: You can ignore this error message, click OK, and continue.

Oracle HTTP Server
9284682 On Windows 2003 SP2 64-bit, EPM System Configurator fails to start Oracle
HTTP Server (OHS). Startup fails because Oracle HTTP Server only supports
Oracle database client Version 11.
Workaround: If using Oracle database 10.2.0.4+, you must use Oracle
database client 10.2.0.2.21+.
9023087 EPM System Installer cannot install Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) on a machine
having 1015 MB total physical memory.
Workaround: Ensure that you have 1024 MB total physical memory.
9439616 If WebLogic Server is installed outside of EPM System and
folder is missing under Middleware Home (For example: Java Required Files
(JRF) is not installed on the machine) the folder does not get
installed with EPM System Installer.
Workaround: Install Oracle HTTP Server on another system and copy the folder / over.
9480396 If EPM System Installer fails to install Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), the Oracle
HTTP Server reinstall option is not available.
Workaround: Review the Oracle HTTP Server and EPM System Installer log files
to determine why Oracle HTTP Server failed to install.
Note: A common reason for an incomplete Oracle HTTP Server installation or
configuration is a missing prerequisite on the Oracle HTTP Server machine. See
the “Oracle HTTP Server Installation Prerequisites” section in the Oracle
Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and
Configuration Guide.

If you have already installed Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) in the same Middleware
Home to which you are installing EPM System, EPM System Installer does not
install Oracle HTTP Server, and does not lay down required static content files.
Workaround: To get the required static content for all Web applications, after
you run EPM System Installer:
1. Create a file (Windows: ,
UNIX: ) in the EPM System Configurator
directory; for example: .
2. Copy the Windows or UNIX script from below for extracting the static files
into the newly created BAT (SH) file.

4. Run the script. The script puts the zipped static content for all Web
applications in the same folder that

10207642 In a distributed environment, Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) is required on each
machine hosting a Web or Service tier component. If you install using the
"Choose components individually" installation option, OHS is not automatically
selected, and EPM System Configurator hangs during configuration.
Workaround: Install OHS on each machine hosting a Web or Service tier
component and then run EPM System Configurator again.
Uninstalling

EPM Infrastructure Development recommends that you don't run two instances
of EPM System Configurator on multiple machines at the same time. The data
from one instance of EPM System Configurator could overwrite the
configuration done by the second EPM System Configurator instance.

After uninstalling an EPM System 11.1.2 component, services do not start any
more. This problem occurs because the uninstallation program incorrectly
removes entries from the Shared Services Registry that are associated with
Foundation Services components.
Workaround: Restore the Shared Services database from a backup and restart
the services.

After configuring some EPM System components and then uninstalling
one component, the other components cannot be configured. This problem
occurs because the uninstallation program incorrectly removes entries from the
Shared Services Registry that are associated with Foundation Services
components. Because database backups are usually not available during the
configuration process, the best way to address this issue is to reconfigure EPM
System.
Workaround: Before you reconfigure, perform the following tasks:

Financial Reporting services.
8926560 The WebLogic Uninstaller does not launch from EPM System Uninstaller.
Workaround: Manually run the WebLogic Uninstaller.
9068958 EPM System Uninstaller does not stop WebLogic Node Manager processes.
Workaround: Manually stop all WebLogic Node Manager processes.
9446557 Windows: EPM System Installer may fail on Windows when you reinstall after
uninstalling a previous EPM System installation.
Workaround: After you uninstall, reboot the Windows machine before you
reinstall to the same folder.
9729212 EPM Infrastructure Development strongly recommends that you don't uninstall
individual components of Release 11.1.2 after any of the components are
configured.
Rather than uninstalling the components, shut down the services that you no
longer need and set the Startup Type option to Disabled.

9319870 In Japanese, when you run EPM System Configurator and the Shared Services
Registry database user name and password use double-byte characters
(hieroglyphs), the Foundation Services Web server configuration fails.
