AGES 2-5When your baby has more teeth...

You may already know that you need to brush your baby’s teeth when they start to come out around the age of six months old.

But, it is also important to start caring for your baby’s gums right at bir th to help prevent tooth decay.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR BABY’S TEETH IF THEY FALL OUT ANYWAY?

Primary, or “baby” teeth are important for many reasons:

o They help children speak clearly and chew

o They help guide adult teeth into their proper place

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR BABY HAS TOOTH DECAY?

Tooth decay in baby teeth:

o Can easily lead to tooth decay in adult teeth

o May cause an infection that can affect the entire

body and even be life threatening

Make sure your baby goes to bed without a bottle or sippy cup, unless the bottle or cup has only water in it

Proper dental care, when added to regular dental visits and a balanced diet, will help prevent tooth decay.

Make sure your child has the best oral health for years to come!
